One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.

Untangling family secrets and reconnecting family relationships are not usually the stuff of comedy but they combine well in this film largely on the skill of the actors to keep us entertained. Slightly too long for its plot though and the ending is a bit too pat - but we knew everybody had to be happy! All we needed was for Maggie to marry the Professor's dishy doctor grandson! Great to see a movie that encompasses three generations interacting, plus a whole bevy of Florida retirees! (viewed 11/16)

Greetings from Lithuania."In Her Shoes" (2005) is a very sweet picture. Acting was very strong, especially by Toni Collette and Shirley MacLaine. Cameron Diaz was OK, but not as memorable as her partners. This i a very well directed, written comedy drama. At running time 2 hours is never drags and is superbly paced. There a some touching moments, but it's not a tear jerker type of a picture. Although it's not the most original story and it's a bit predictable at the moments, but superb acting and very solid craftsmanship makes this movie a surely must see for those who are tired from romantic but uninvolving flicks. Overall, "In Her Shoes" is a very well made sweet movie. It's not a romantic comedy, it has some serious ideas about life, search for yourself and power of family love. Very good movie, i'm glad i gave this movie a chance.

I saw this movie more than 5 times. why? simply because it is simple light but deep and touching. Cameron Diaz is not just very pretty in the movie, but her acting was amazing. the movie is about two sisters, the older is the caring, serious and hardworking one that take care of her young sister(Cameron Diaz) which is the naughty girl. the young sister (Diaz) sleeps with her sister's boy friend and she discovers, the two sisters separate and each one goes on her own way, the old sister focuses on her work while Diaz goes to her grand mother to live with and here it is like a new start for the movie. in the movie there are many touching scenes and some comedy as well, the scene when the old sister get married and Diaz read a poem for her.. that poem is a one she read when she was a nurse for an old man who asked her to read it for him. i loved that line very much, the man taught her to read and after he dies and when her sister was getting married at the end she read it for her in a really touching scene. the movie in general is all about the sister's relationship and with the family. i love that movie so much, this movie is worth watching, watch it at night, give it a try and please when you watch it there have to be be no noise, if you want just one word to describe it very accurately.. this word is;WARM.

Directed by Curtis Hanson, with a great script by Susannah Grant, "In Her Shoes" is the story of two sisters, a family secret, and an estranged grandmother. It stars Cameron Diaz, Toni Collette, Shirley MacLaine, Ken Howard, Richard Burgi, Mark Feuerstein, Norman Lloyd, Francine Beers, and Jerry Adler. The Feller sisters, Maggie and Rose, couldn't be more different. Maggie (Diaz) is a gorgeous, leggy blond who sleeps around, takes money from guys, and steals. Rose (Collette) is the frumpy brain, an attorney involved with a partner at the firm. Her big indulgence is incredible shoes, which she purchases when she needs to give herself a lift. When they were children, their mother died in a car accident, and their father (Howard) remarried. After a disastrous stay with Rose, Maggie, unwelcome by Rose and her stepmother, decides to move to New York to pursue a career as an actress, not letting her dyslexia and near illiteracy stand in her way. Then she finds dozens of cards from a grandmother (MacLaine) she never knew in Florida and decides to go there instead. This is a beautiful story of reconnection and learning who you are through different kinds of love - sisterly, grandmotherly, man-woman, as each sister takes a road that will lead her back to the another."In Her Shoes" is perfectly cast, from Diaz's flirtatious, vagabond Maggie, MacLaine's strong but heartbroken Ella, to Toni Collette's lonely, insecure Rose and a magnificent supporting cast, each of whom makes a lasting impression. An unforgettable, unapologetically sentimental story that'll have you reaching for Kleenex - the whole box.
