Sorry, this movie sucks
TrueHello
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

i liked this movie.it's a bit slow at times, but it is enjoyable, for the most part.the creature isn't the most realistic i've seen, but i have seen a lot worse.there is lots of gore,so if you have a weak stomach, you might want to prepare yourself.but if you're a gore hound, you'll probably really like that aspect of it.there are no big name actors/actresses here, but i really liked the actress who played the female forest ranger.i thought she was very convincing.this won't likely be the best horror movie you ever see,but it's sure better than a lot of them out there.it has a 4.2/10 rating on this site, but i would rate it higher than that.i give It Waits a 6/10

An ancient lethal and powerful humanoid creature (Matt Jordan in a gnarly monster suit) of local Native American legend gets freed from its mountainside cave prison and goes on a bloody rampage in the woods. It stalks and torments troubled forest ranger Danielle St. Claire (a strong and sympathetic performance by the lovely Cerina Vincent of "Cabin Fever"), whose grief and guilt over the recent untimely death of her best gal pal Julie Cassidy (a winningly perky turn by Miranda Frigon) attracts the evil beast's sadistic attention. Director Steven R. Monroe maintains a steady pace throughout, effectively creates a spooky and gloomy atmosphere, and piles on the nasty gore during the brutal kill scenes. Better still, there's a thoughtful aspect to the script by Richard Christian Matheson, Thomas E. Szoilosa and Stephen J. Cannell which adds a welcome and refreshing element of poignancy to the story. Vincent effortlessly carries the picture with her excellent and affecting portrayal of the touchingly tragic heroine; she receives fine support from Dominic Zamprogna as her concerned, likable boyfriend Justin Rawley, Greg Kean as friendly fellow ranger Rick Bailey, and Eric Schweig as wise college professor Joseph Riverwind. The engaging main characters, Jon Joffin's polished cinematography, a nice soundtrack of pleasant pop-rock songs, the breathtaking sylvan scenery, and Corey A. Jackson's eerie, rousing, flavorsome score all further enhance the overall sound quality of this nifty little shocker.

I finally got to watch this movie in one sitting. I was impressed both with the movie overall and with the actress. The plot kept things moving along at a bearable pace. People acted like real people not like the artificially dumb bunnies that are in most 'horror' films. Cerina Vincent really carried the movie and made her character both believable and sympathetic. "It Waits" is more of a 'character' and love story than a pure 'horror' movie. The same story idea could have worked with a rogue bear besieging the Forest Service employee in the tower rather than an ancient demon. The demon was just more 'fun'. The love scene was very tastefully done. It was probably better on the actors too that there wasn't full nudity considering it was cold enough on set to have their breath fogging every time they spoke! My only technical gripe was with the choice of scoped rifle for the protagonists' firearm. Those were very dense woods but her rifle had an obviously high-powered telescopic sight on it. That would actually hinder shooting at the close ranges in the forest. Couple that with the fact that the Forest Service employee would only need the rifle for defense against rogue animals which would only be taken at close range and one must conclude that the rifle should have had open sights rather than a telescope. I think this comes from most movie people knowing close to nothing about guns and having the idea in their heads that a 'hunting rifle' is a bolt-action with 'scope type. Sorry that I am so picky but it is this way in so many movies. Of course the pre-fused and capped dynamite she used was a stretch too as anyone who handles explosives will tell you. You don't cap and fuse any explosive until just prior to use. Otherwise you risk an unplanned 'loud noise'.I am glad I got the DVD both for the movie and the extra features on it.

like i said about tooth fairy i will say about this one,, not the worst horror movie ever, and not even close to the worst. the thing the two movies have in common, writer, producer, stephen j. canell. the a team, and hits of nbc in the 80,90's, anyway back to the movie, the monster itself could have used a total makeover, my youngest stepson, said it looked like an alien. i did like the movie set in the forest, that was an excellent call there. overall i did like most of the movie, it was average, maybe a little better. danielle st. clair, was worth watching, especially half naked. the plot wasn't too bad, but i didn't buy blasting the rocks with dy namite to bring back the spirit of the creature. it's worth watching i think,, the thing with horror movies is you can't take them tooo seriously,, there' not perfect and there hard to come by , so don't be so hard on this one,, it wasn't too bad. like i said, won't win any Oscars or awards.. but i've seen way worse.. by the way the parrot stole the show, always love those talking animals,,,
