Absolutely amazing

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

JENGO HOOPER is an example of the 'grindhouse' horror film taken to its nadir. A no-budget indie effort that seeks to startle and shock with some explicit gore scenes, this is an unwatchable mess of a movie shot through a blurry filter that makes it look like somebody smeared Vaseline all over the screen. If you're thinking 'style over substance' then you'll be right, this is all about re-creating an old '70s grainy-style cinema effect complete with film clips and a voice-over narration. There's no narrative coherence whatsoever.

If you do not read the back of the box you will have no idea what this movie is about. The filming style, while artistic, totally distracts you from the story line making it a garbled mess. If you want a movie with plot and substance then do not watch this. If you are high then go ahead and waste your time. The audio is terrible. There is so much background noise you cannot understand what anyone is saying. The video jumps between scenes so much you have no idea what is happening. I watched about 15 minutes of this and turned it off. It should have been more clearly marked as an art house film and not a horror film. Very disappointed with it and if i cannot get my money back i will burn it.

I was a little dubious about this title with rumors of extreme gore and violence. Usually low budget films that advertise lots of gore and violence are not worth watching. I was pleasantly surprised when viewing 'Jengo Hooper'. The film is shot in a strange artistic way with lots of weird damaged footage and scrappy cut up shots. The film is done in a story type of way with the lead character doing some narration and explaining how, why and where. The film does have some intense and gory scenes. The acting was for the most part good although there are a few that seemed to taint the film slightly with some cheesy lines and wooden acting but we have to remember this is a low budget Grindhouse movie. I feel the director and producer did a great job recreating the old Grindhouse style of movie and bringing it into the present.Well worth watching, very entertaining and I will be on the look out for more work from the director 'Joe Wheeler' as it seems he is set for a long and successful career especially if he gets funding for projects.
