Details

From the beginning, stories of angels and men have captured our imaginations and have been etched into our history crossing all boundaries of culture, religion, and time. These two races have dominated the landscape of modern mythology for countless centuries, almost washing away the evidence that a third ever existed. This third race, born of smokeless fire, was called the jinn. Similar to humans in many ways, the jinn lived invisibly among us and only under dire or unusual circumstances were our paths ever meant to cross.

Laikals The greatest movie ever made..!
Cortechba Overrated
SeeQuant Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction
Micah Lloyd Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.
tin-borgman Don't listen to the naysayers. Most of them are probably anti-Muslim and don't want the Muslim director and writer to be successful with this independent effort. Yes, it is very much like a television series pilot movie. And what's wrong with that? We all like TV even when we pretend otherwise.Good TV shows are hard to find. If this had been successful, it would have been closely like Supernatural, only more serious instead of campy cute guys one-lining their way through disasters. Jinn, or Djinn, have an interesting history in our ancient literature, and not just from Muslim sources, although I believe it may have started from there. Ancient Hebrew also have literature regarding the Jinn. If you watched Noah with Russell Crowe, you would have seen a major reference to the Jinn. It is, indeed, a part of our ancient stories of our beginnings which has been forgotten.True? I dunno. But definitely fun. Too bad so many stinkers had to rate this as if it should have been a blockbuster film instead of a really good potential TV series. Some folks are real wet blankets.Watch it, rate it, and maybe someone in power will decide to give it a go.
deacon_blues-3 Unlike some reviewers, I found the acting and FX passable, and at times even well done. I certainly have seen a lot worse. My biggest problem is with this monstrosity of a melding of three religions. What a mess! You have to be a moron to think there is any reconciling of these three religions, since you'd have to vacate all their essential teachings to do this. Also, the entire mythos of the Jinn just falls flat from the beginning. The verse from Ezekiel 1:13 read in support of their existence is totally out of context and has absolutely nothing to do with any Jinn; rather this verse describes the Seraphim who surround and guard the throne of God, and there are only four of them. They are also described in Revelation 4:6-9. They are not a "third race" but a special class of angelic being, those closest to God throne. But if you suspend your incredulity for an hour or so, the film is nice entertainment. I have no wish for a sequel to this pretentious hodge-podge of cosmological muck. One is more than enough, thanks!
enderozd I watched this movie to learn what shouldn't do when shooting a movie. If your time is not important to you and if you curious about how a movie can be done without a story and acting this is the right movie for you.The guy who played Gabriel in this movie is known as Darth Maul and snake eyes; lets just say if this guy doesn't has a mask on his face don't watch the movie.Who wrote this movie shame on you, you just used Islam for such a bad story.Whole movie looks like written at weekend for a homework of a highschool student.
nineveh-4 I kept hearing mixed reviews about this film. I know when it comes to the Jinn, Muslim directors tend to want to throw in religious overtones, and this film follows the same line. Islamic recitations are used to banish or keep the Jinn at bay and Quranic references to the Jinn are key foundation of this film. There is also the usual Islamic dig against Jews toward the end since the good Jinn is Jewish and the Priest sorta mocks his attachment to his faith.Part of the problem is that the film maker doesn't really know much about the Jinn. He has to invent them and invent them using the most basic Islamic belief of beings of Fire. Of course, Islam says God made us from mud, but it would be foolish to depict a human being as a dirt golem.I realize this a movie and not a factual depiction, but the reason I brought it up, is because overall the film doesn't know what to do with its Jinn. We keep bouncing back and forth on what they look like and what they can do and what they want and this impact the storyline and the movie itself in a negative way. Then we got the problem with a hero that we really couldn't care less about or identify with. It became a bit messianic toward the end.Special effects are fine and the music score is good. Action doesn't disappoint and there is one or two scenes that makes you jump. It was a well executed film, but it could have been much much more. It is a nice popcorn rental, but don't be passing it around as an educational material on the Jinn, because that is the last thing this is.
