Highly Overrated But Still Good

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

Hi guys this is my second review on IMDb. The best movie by Vijay & Team murugadoss combined by the super BGM by Anirudh. this one the best movie of vijay I ever saw although I was not a fan of vijay but wanted to write this review about this movie superb story about the farmer's life.Vijay has used this opportunity to play superb roles in this movie and proves he is good action hero and as a performer and as an entertainer. While Kathir is high on theatrics and is the Vijay that we have enjoyed on screen in many mass entertainers, Jeeva is fresh and non-Vijay in every aspect. Kathir is bound to be a fan favorite while the audiences are likely to empathize with Jeeva and his motives. In that aspect, Kaththi is a strong movie for Vijay.Director A.R.Murugadoss has done a very job once again touched upon many issues close to his heart such as rampant corruption, farmer suicides, the plight of senior citizens, water scarcity, the workings of the sensational news-hungry media and also goes on to vilify the corporates and their aggressive expansion plans without considering their CSR (corporate social responsibility) initiatives. The one scene late in the second half, when Vijay delivers an intense speech on media & about the corruption in India, is a definite highlight in the overall scheme of things. But it does try to get a little manipulative as the director has played to the gallery to win the audience's heart.Coming to fight scene again murugadoss did added some more salt & pepper to the movie unless like other vijay's movies we get bored and frustrated but this was some what logical coin fight that nobody expected but we can always expect some like this kind of scenes from murugadoss.Overall best kind of movie a must watch movie for all city peoples who really doesn't care about farmer's life and even doesn't care about water usage 10 stars for the message 10 stars for Vijay's extraordinary speech slapping on the face of media's**********************

Kaththi is as sharp as its title. The actor makes the best of his class. ARM gives another class and mass movie with an attempt to make it enter into the ₹100cr club. Samantha played her role good and her role is quite simple. She comes for most of the scenes aside the actor and makes a glimpse frequently. Sathish is good at his comic sense and the combo is good. The storyline is quite different and fits perfectly for the actor. To deliver a pure social message in a mass commercial style of Vijay should be quite difficult for ARM. But he delivers it with a great caution and responsibility. About Anirudh he asusual does his job with excellency. The BGM gives everyone goosebumps. Editing is good and all other this things are good. May be the film should be a bit shorter.

After recent failures, Vijay finds success again through Kaththi.Directed by A.R.Muragadoss who earlier directed Vijay in Thuppakki, he again emerges victorious in making a movie which is both critically and commercially alright. The movie showcases the plight of farmers and the problems they face during farming.Coming to the story, Kathiresan(Vijay) is a criminal who escapes from Kolkata jail and goes to chennai. He spots Jeevanandham(Vijay again!!!!) being shot by a group of goons. He decides to trap Jeeva and get him caught by the Kolkata police to escape imprisonment and lands in the place of Jeeva. Meanwhile he learns that Jeeva is the in-charge of a old age home where he is fighting a case against a multi national company headed by Chirag(Neil Nitin Mukesh shines....).He soon realises the gravity of the situation and also finds that Chiraag is also trying to kill the old age home inmates and Jeeva. He then decides to fight the case in the place of Jeevanandham.Vijay has shown remarkable development in acting. His characterizations were handled well by Murugadoss.Samantha plays the usual heroine role and she does her part well.Satish and the other character artists provide ample support. From the word go, Murugadoss rocks the screen with well written scenes and dialouges and especially the climax where Vijay explains the plight of farming and the occupation of farmlands by MNC's illegally were well executed. Anirudh nails the BGM right from the start and even entertains Vijay fans with a mass number. George.C.Williams's cinematography is exceptional. The coin fight scene is a really good idea but gets repetitive at the end. Also the transformation scene of Kathiresan is not so believable and could have been handled better.I don't know why leading ladies are selected if they aren't offered any important role in the movie.Truly speaking ,romance doesn't find a place in this gripping saga. Finally Kaththi is a action thriller which highlights the difficulties of farming and illegal activities of MNC.It is a touching tribute to the farmers of this country. It truly deserves a watch.

This was a fun movie and its definitely better than Vijays last few films but I have to say its an average film and not better than his old films like Pokkiri. This movie is not better than Hollywood films having rating more than 7 and bollywood films like 3 idiots. Most of his fans gave 10 on this film and this film doesn't even deserve 8. This film is just hardly 7. Some scenes like the fighting scene where Vijay beat down 50 is just too much. There was not much scene for the heroine. Also There are too many coincidence the film too. This film also had great twists that makes the film very unique. Overall this is an impressive movie from Vijay but not the one of his greatest.I will give this a 6 on 10
