This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

Young Justin Schumacher hits his head during the school talent contest and falls into a coma for 20 years. Justin (Jamie Kennedy) wakes up and tries to revives his dancing dreams his friends Darnell (Miguel A. Núñez Jr.), Hector (Aris Alvarado) and Aki (Bobby Lee). Meanwhile his girl Jennifer (Maria Menounos) is now engaged to his nemesis Kip (Michael Rosenbaum).I didn't actually laugh once at Jamie Kennedy's antics. The jokes sound clunky and are more angry than charming. Being dumb isn't a bad thing but badly written performances are. The 15 minutes prologue of the characters as kids is more compelling than the rest of the movie. The humor is so lifeless that it's more sad than anything else. Jamie Kennedy is unable to play dumb with joy. His friends are much funnier which means they're tolerable. Bobby Lee is probably the funniest of a bad lot.

i really enjoyed the movie. it was hilarious and at points in the movie you could also learn a lesson from it. and Jesse Brown is totally HOT!!!!!!i thought that the movie was awesome because it had a lot of parts to it where you felt like you could relate to it and it makes you wonder just how short life can be , and exactly how fast it can go by. but i liked the movie because it reminds me of my neighbors. there son loves to break dance and he enjoys doing it. will there be any sequels to kickin' it old skool or will you just keep people guessing on what might happen next?and if there are any sequels will any be made in Canada???

A fantastic movie for any child of the 80s! That's really all you need to know. If you grew up in the 80s, collected garbage pail kids, carried cardboard and a ghetto blaster, sang we are the world, and watched different strokes and knight rider, then gather up some friends who share your history, and watch this movie as a celebration of our childhood. The soundtrack was great, the acting tolerable, and the script was creative. The b-boying was alright. There's a little antagonistic dude that does a great job, the rest is OK, and is actually pretty realistic depicting the differences between the style of the 80s and todays breaking. it's pure fun and entertainment. expect more, and you might be disappointed. expect a montage of the best of your childhood, and you'll have a great time.

Knightrider, Garbage Pail Kids, Plastic Smurfs, Flashdance, Rubiks Cube, Different Strokes and the list goes on..........Its the 80's. This film pays homage to all the good and not so good memories of the 80's, i actually sat in my seat squirming remembering it all. Its was a strange thing because i had forgotten about the craze for Garbage Pail Kids cards and Plastic toy Smurfs but i never and i will repeat never wore a white string vest. The film itself had myself laughing with hysteria at all these memories that i had long forgotten, there were a few parts over the top and lost the humour it was supposed to represent. The mini cameo from The Hoff would not have been as good if it were not for his T-shirt "Dont Hassle the Hoff"......Priceless.Please do not expect much from this movie, just remember the nostalgia of the 80's and we all used to dress like that, yes even you did if you are in your late 20's/30's. The cast just played along with the script as best they could as it has little in substance it rely's totally on the humour. The Dance off finale has some funny moments but don't let me spoil it for you. Its certainly not the best comedy around but watch it and enjoy yourself for 90 minutes.
