WasAnnon Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
FrogGlace In other words, this film is a surreal ride.
Helllins It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.
Mandeep Tyson The acting in this movie is really good.
chevgrd Possible spoiler* I can't believe how awful this movie is. I really wanted to like it but it's so biblically inaccurate. Jesus knew who he was from the beginning yet this movie portrays him as a commoner that eventually discovers he is the messiah. Rubbish. It doesn't show him teaching in the temple as a boy like he did. The scene with Simon fishing is wrong. In the bible he tells him to cast his net on the other side of the boat after he has no success. The net immediately becomes so full that it overwhelms the boat. They portray Jesus as a simple prophet instead of the son of God. There's countless inaccuracies. I'm disgusted.
Chris Banzet I thought the title was to describe the "crucifiction" of Jesus Christ, but instead, it was to crucify the truth about Jesus Christ himself. Now that I've watched the movie, I KNOW why they gave it the Title "KILLING Jesus".. It's because Hollywood is the one who is TRYING to kill Jesus" with this movie... If Agnostics were FORCED to tell you the story of Jesus Christ, it would go something like this movie.. One of the most APPALLING tales of Jesus Christ ever produced. This movie claims "accuracy" yet throughout the movie it absolutely denies even the most simplest known facts. Even more pervasive is the fact that with great "intent" they set out to make serious insinuations that are not true at all but certainly help the argument of any agnostic who would want to view Jesus Christ as just a man. If through a film, you could spit on the very history of Jesus Christ, this movie is a gesture in that direction. Christians who watch this will be appalled and agnostics will have the luxury of yet another falsified documentary to add to their belief, or lack thereof.
Ryan Prince -Killing Jesus (2015) movie review: -Killing Jesus is a TV movie by National Geographic, giving a look at the ministry and death of Jesus of Nazareth from both his perspective and the perspectives of those who ordered his death. This attempt as a religious telling takes a non-biased look at the story of Christ, essentially adding biased against the truth told in the actual story. I'll get in to that later.-Technically, it was not that bad. I will review part of it from that standpoint. However I am also going to review the content and what it represents, which was less than satisfying for a film that only needed to do the same as the other hundred films like this one.-The story was told from both the perspectives of Jesus' captors as well as Jesus, so it feels inconsistent. They also skipped a few points that help develop other points in Christ's ministry.-The film had a slow start and an odd pace that rushed through a bit of time without letting the audience know. Rushed ending too.-The acting is functional. Haaz Sleiman plays a good Jesus, but not a great one. It also has some people like Kelsey Grammar, Rufus Sewell, and John Rhys-Davies in it, who do a good job.-The characters are not all that good or accurate. Jesus whines and at one point talks about how He wants to lead a rebellion with swords. Because that obviously happened. To make this part short, when it comes to characters there is almost no regard for the actual Bible.-I liked the music. It was very Bear McCreary-esque.-The production value was acceptable, and I loved that they had a Jewish looking Jesus. Other than that, this film is both factually and Biblically inaccurate through most of its passive attempt to tell the story of Christ. Ending it ambiguously while not having things like the Holy Spirit in it once just truly take everything out of the meaning.-Technically, it is not terrible. It has a decent design, acting that is not too bad, and a good score. Biblically and historically, it gets little right and takes the extra step to ensure this comes from a non-biased worldview, which in turn takes God out of it. Killing Jesus is not worth the time.-Killing Jesus holds a PG-13 rating for violence and some partial nudity.
Simon_Cyrene Yes - as other reviewers have observed, Killing Jesus departs in some not insignificant way from NT accounts but depicting the humanity of Jesus more than A.D. or The Bible was thought provoking not insulting. Jesus is shown to laugh and be playful like a normal man - never profane but just "out of character" in certain scenes from the somber portrayals in other renditions. His anger in the Temple market even rises to the level of pushing a man away with force.Haaz Sleiman's portrayal of Christ was refreshing not only because he allowed us to identify with him more, but also because of his Middle Eastern accent and appearance. To the devout Christian reviewers that were offended by a Muslim playing Christ - rethink your position. What better way to learn about Jesus than to study and play his character? I for one will not cast a stone against this talented actor who as a Muslim no doubt suffered criticism from his own people for portraying Christ. "So it's an honor for me, as someone who was raised Muslim, to play's him. It's beyond an honor." Haaz Sleiman - Christianity Today.
