Matrixston Wow! Such a good movie.
Tedfoldol everything you have heard about this movie is true.
HottWwjdIam There is just so much movie here. For some it may be too much. But in the same secretly sarcastic way most telemarketers say the phrase, the title of this one is particularly apt.
Curt Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.
madelinehind I have been forced to repost this review ( with alterations) after someone connected to the film reported it.The original broke no rules and neither does this.(This review was deleted by IMDb based on an abuse report filed by another user) OK I was never particularly optimistic about the chances for this film but when the chance to see it presented itself, I thought I'd give it a shot.My expectations were low when it took so long with no sign of release. Unfortunately my expectations weren't low enough. I can certainly see why this has not been released in any cinemas or broadcast anywhere. Its strictly B movie fodder, and that is being generous. The budget isn't adequate to realise a thriller like this.Dougray Scott is good as usual and gives a performance far better than this tripe deserves. Lindsey Duncan obviously needed a paycheck. The fact that dyslexic Dawn from Eastenders is the female lead speaks volumes. The sooner she gives up acting for full time modelling or reality TV the better.Production values are variable. Plot has an idea or two but is full of holes.I notice there are 4 glowing reviews on the message boards for this movie. None of the 4 have reviewed anything else, 3 of them have never posted before or since and 2 of them joined the IMDb very shortly before ..
daggersineyes There is nothing wrong with this movie and it's a darned sight better than many others out there. Good acting, excellent FX (for it's low budget), good suspense, explosions, interesting characters - a love story & a cute kid. What more do people want? I really don't understand the angry hate being thrown at that poor child actor - guys, he's a 7 year old CHILD! ROFL Are you expecting an Oscar- worthy performance? I actually think he did an outstanding job and was very believable unlike many of the Hollywood child-faves who so often come across as way too adult and precocious to convince me. As for all the high-horse comments about the accuracy of certain details - come on... really? Personally I couldn't give a hoot about what trains run where or how railway couplings really work and know nothing about London's train service or how far things are from other things in jolly old England. If you do then congratulations, you know stuff I don't. But it doesn't really matter in the slightest for this movie and viewers like me don't know or care. It's fiction, roll with it, I don't know of any movie that's 100% believable or factual, not even documentaries. Anyway - if you're looking for a light thriller that's well produced and a little different rent it and enjoy. It's not the greatest thriller ever made but it's not a bad little flick.
vulcanfan This review is a little pre-emptive as I've ordered the film but as yet only seen the trailer. As an ex-railway man and lifelong rail enthusiast, I'm drawn to any film that features British trains and, good or bad, simply have to see them myself. Normally if British trains are used in films there is usually a major fault with how they look (a couple of UK sitcoms suffer from this). From what I saw in the trailer, they have the look of this one pretty spot-on. It is obviously a Southern Region 4CEP, 4CIG or something of that ilk which were used on lines from London to the Kent coast until the last few years. I've read the other reviews, good and bad, and am prepared to form my own opinion on viewing the movie. So far it looks impressive and I've given a reasonable rating purely on the preview.
Leofwine_draca LAST PASSENGER is a British movie and a low-budget addition to the string of "single location" thrillers. In this one, a handful of passengers are stranded on an abandoned train at night, a train that's being driven by a man who may or may not be out of his mind. What ensues is reasonably good given the set-up, with plenty of suspense and low-rent heroics as those trapped try to work out a way to improve their situation. One of the real strengths of LAST PASSENGER lies in the calibre of the cast members. Dougray Scott is a particularly dependable face when it comes to genre fare (such as the lacklustre DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS miniseries) and he acquits himself well with the family-man-turned-group-leader role here. Kara Tointon is little more than a pretty face, but there also decent turns from the reliable David Schofield and Lindsay Duncan. Newcomer Iddo Goldberg is a hoot as the volatile Pole who plays his own part in the proceedings.A few elements of LAST PASSENGER are a little cheesy, such as some of the CGI effects, and there's a nod to UNDER SIEGE 2 at one point which destroys the carefully-maintained realism seen elsewhere. But for the most part this is gripping, tension-filled stuff and a film whose restraint works in its favour.
