Details

On the set of Cleopatra, Hollywood's most beautiful star, Elizabeth Taylor, fell into the arms of one of the world's greatest actors, Richard Burton - and she didn't leave. Their subsequent white-hot, scandalous love affair gave rise to the paparazzi and they became the most hunted and photographed couple on earth. Their rocky, passionate, relationship, born in front of the cameras, was subsequently captured in a series of films, including The V.I.P.s and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? The last of the great, extravagant stars, flaunting diamonds, yachts and private planes, they continually seized the headlines. They even divorced and married again - only to divorce again - but remain in each other's hearts. This Elizabeth Taylor - Richard Burton story is a no-holds barred account of their undying, but impossible love.

Senteur As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.
pointyfilippa The movie runs out of plot and jokes well before the end of a two-hour running time, long for a light comedy.
Juana what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Roxie The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
georgewi-38014 Was blown away how engrossing this TV movie was. Lindsay Logan and Grant Bowler were both excellent. After 10 minutes I no longer saw the actors just the characters. Lindsay was great, while her public life may not present so well her acting has not suffered. In fact it fitted the character like a glove. She does not deserve the negative reviews which are biased and hateful in my opinion.Good production values.A very good starting point for today's generation to understand the period. Made me want to know more.Thanks for an enjoyable watch all.
Jezahb I am not saying it was a great movie, or really even a good movie...but I think the amount of hatred on these boards for it is a bit out of proportion. I think the biggest issue with this film was that it was rushed, I mean Liz and Dick's entire courtship and falling in love took place over a 10 minute period in the beginning. We went from them meeting, hating each other, to Liz wanting to end her life rather than be without Dick in less than a half hour. That coupled with LiLo's inconsistent acting made for a film that, while on an interesting subject, didn't really grab me. I wanted to get into it, because I knew I was supposed to, but I just didn't feel at all connected to the characters. I think Lindsay could be a decent actress since in some scenes her portrayal of Taylor's heartbreak and sadness were moving, but other times simple subtle moments she missed by a mile by either overplaying it (when her and Richard first meet on the set of Cleopatra and she overacted Liz's disgust) or massively underplaying it (when she first sees Richard by the pool and she is supposed to be giving him a cold glare but instead she appears to do nothing). She seems to be great at BIG, but awful at subtle. Point is, it is a TV movie. I didn't expect a riveting cinematic experience, and so I guess my bar was just set lower.
jtgodin85 If anyone is able to portray Elizabeth Taylors wild sense of untamed demeanour, carelessness for negative publicity and undying need for love, it's Lindsay Lohan. Let's be real people, Lindsay has graced covers on so many magazines and we love them because she is the 21st century bad girl.... The way the media portrayed Taylor in the 60s. I'm watching this movie as I write this and lets be real... She rocked the epitome of Taylor not as the actress but because she can relate. This is why her spirit is conveyed in essence of Taylor. If Chris Crocker did it for Britney...this is my rendition for Lohan!JT Gee
LawnBoy-4 Lindsay Lohan is, unquestionably, the most talentless excuse for an "actress" of the last 20 years. She essentially boasts two forms of facial expression in her arsenal: smirk and confusion. Aside from the fact that she is so dimly lit upstairs that she cannot manage to stay out of trouble, she really provides us with no reason whatsoever to pay attention to her. Now that the similarly trashy, talentless and doltish Miley Montana has cranked up her idiot juices, allowing her to hog the trainwreck limelight in the process, we really have no reason to afford this tramp any more of our time.For the purpose of this excremental "film", Lohan pretty much mails it in, which is to be expected, given her inability to do much otherwise. The production team should be brought up on charges for foisting this assault on the senses of even the least discriminating of viewers and the network which gave any of these clowns the arena with which to air this trash should be relegated to the nether regions of the most obscure cable package imaginable.Yes, it is THAT bad.The Lohan experiment really needs to end. Let her be on her way to becoming the only thing she was ever destined to be: a long lost footnote in the annals of talentless buffoons who once captured the public eye for no other reason than the sheer fact that they could not stop being stupid.
