Gutsycurene Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
Janae Milner Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
Derry Herrera Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
GL84 Approached by a reclusive author, a legendary vampire hunter reluctantly helps her track down her missing brother who was abducted by a mysterious head-vampire looking to sacrifice him in an ancient ceremony and must stop it before it's too late.Overall this one was one of the best entries in the series with a lot to really like here. What really makes this one so much fun is the fact that this one really feels like a true effort in the franchise at getting the lead involved here from the start here and carrying the film throughout its running time instead of simply being introduced near the end to stop the threat. This full-on treatment is a lot more fun here since this one is littered with fine action scenes throughout here because of that, and this really gets quite fun here because of that as the opening attack in the government building and the first attack in the bookstore sell the idea nicely of the vampires here as truly vicious which forces him into action much sooner. The fun ambush on the trip to secure the weaponry is a great action sequence with the battles preventing them from entering and instead forcing the vampires to burn it down and bringing the escape which sets up the great action of finally dealing with them that makes this one quite fun. As well, the finale on the island hideout here is so much fun that there's several great moments here, with the suspenseful stalking in the tunnels sneaking into the facility for each team before-and-after the split, the first team entering the battlegrounds with the female vampires while the other team meets the bodyguard which results in truly fun times throughout in the vicious beat-down brawl that results here and bringing about the big confrontation in their second attempt to get in where the party is underway and the resulting means of dealing with the ceremony interruption and the double-cross afterwards is so much fun getting in plenty of spectacular brawling, fun sword-fights and letting the inventive weaponry that has long been a part of the series to come full- bore here in generating the final resolution here that's quite violent and bloody. Along with these elements, the great gore of the vampires setting up their hideout is a lot of fun and the rampant nudity all make this one quite enjoyable throughout here while really only giving itself one real flaw here. This here is simply in the fact that the big plan on the vampires here, sacrificing the brother in their ceremony, is never really given here as the true reason for his capture spells the nature of the double-cross but it still doesn't make any sense why he would be needed in the ceremony that spurs him into action in the first place. Beyond this, there's not much really wrong here.Rated R: Extreme Graphic Language, Full Nudity, Graphic Violence and drug use.
skybrick736 Not often is a horror trilogy wrapped quite as well as The Lost Boys films. A well-developed continuous storyline throughout multiple films is sometimes all that's needed to become something great. It's refreshing to see characters face adversity through time rather than a typical cliché slasher sequel with no end goal or relativity. It's hard not to have a soft spot for The Thirst, the film having played tremendous homage to the late Corey Haim. Flashback scenes with Haim are reminisced, as Corey Feldman's character, Edgar Frog, sees the end of his long battle with vampires about to end.Contrary to many poor opinions by Lost Boys fans or horror fans, The Thirst never did have a dull moment. A wealth of newly introduced characters were interesting and well-developed, all led by Corey Feldman, who finally was the primary character. It was fun to see Edgar Frog's dismissive personality throughout the entire film. His dialogue was great having some throwback and memorable lines. Writing however, was a key issue, the ending fell flat apart needing a stronger head-vampire. Among the head-vampire were other problematic scenes towards and at the dreck of an ending. The Tribe and The Thirst tend to be pretty polarizing, nobody thinking saying there spectacular, but a little more credit should be given, since they're both highly entertaining.
usajet Sorry Corey Feldman just doesn't do it for me. He might have possibilities in other movies, but this movie certainly did not help his career. A washed up, child star gone bad. I guess if you are into the vampire craze Lost Boys: The Thirst might turn you on, but probably not. He pretty much growls through the movie. I would NOT waste your time watching this movie. I made it through about 20 minutes of the film and was NOT impressed. The current score of 5.4 is very generous for this movie. I think a score of 1, maybe 2 might be more appropriate. Save your money, don't go see this film, do NOT rent it. There are plenty of other movies to keep you entertained these day.
bairdy_box First off, the decision to shoot the film in South Africa was clearly beneficial. The whole look of the film, the quality of the special effects, especially the plane jump sequence and the plethora of vampire kills were all great! I have to say I was excited when I first heard that Dario Piana was drafted to direct this instalment as I knew he was capable of delivering something great - going by what I'd witnessed in The Deaths of Ian Stone. He really met my expectations and I hope that he will be optioned to return if plans go ahead on the next film. The storyline and characters were handled much better this time around, much more likable - Edgar's companions in particular. I liked the Zoe character and felt she was really good as the quirky comic book worker. The senator turned weapons expert, the cocky movie star and his cameraman sidekick all brought something to the table. When it comes to Corey and Jamison, they never fail to deliver! They really do own those roles and I wouldn't want to see anyone other than them stepping into those shoes. Seeing them together again in that opening sequence - side by side hunting vamps in DC... truly awesome! It was a fun tie in to the comic book and really set the tone for the rest of the film. I hope that the follow up will be similar in feel and feature a full on Frog Bros blood-hunt. Also the motion comic titles worked well, much more enjoyable than the cringe worthy O.C style opening credit sequence from The Tribe. The 'Cry Little Sister' cover by Aiden felt slightly shoe horned in. Admittedly I'm not a fan of the band or their sound and wish someone else could have contributed their own cover. Regardless of this, I thought the soundtrack for this one was actually pretty good. The look of the vampires was definitely closer to the mark. Quite toned down in comparison to the OTT prosthetics used in The Tribe. I also felt that Jamison's vampire look was most favourable and more faithful to The Lost Boys - less From Dusk Till Dawn. The vampires themselves were okay, yet a bit cheesy at times. They had the look down but the charm and mystique that was there with the original boys was somewhat missing. That aside, they did deliver on a battle for The Frogs to show their steel and that's what I'd been hoping for! I found the Gwen character a little hard to swallow, this was most likely brought on by my distaste for Twilight and Stephanie Meyer. Edgar's dig at the vampire romance novels was great, said exactly what we horror fans have been thinking.I loved the references to the original film as well as the characters Star, Michael and Laddie. It's comforting to know that they are still very much out there. I was thrilled to hear Corey and Jamison discussing the idea of bringing Chance back as Laddie. As they established with this film, his character is leading a life of normalcy with a wife and kids - I can only imagine some kind of twist that will pull him back to the world that he left behind! This is one of many things that The Tribe lacked - the opportunity to really open up the story and allow the viewers imagination to do some work on it's own.The flashback sequences featuring Corey Haim as Sam Emerson were quite eerie, especially knowing that the film was completed prior to his passing. It felt like such a fitting tribute and I'd be lying if I said I didn't well up a bit, especially when Edgar placed the Batman # 14 upon Sam's grave. If Corey Haim could have seen this, I'm sure he would have been proud.Overall, the film was definitely a step in the right direction! It's not a masterpiece by any means and we all know that the first film is an extremely tough act to follow. This much is for sure, they did a great job with the resources that they had and I'll be happy to place the film side by side with the original. If the decision is made to produce another chapter, you can most definitely count me in. These fun spin-off movies trump those crappy remakes any day!
