PlatinumRead Just so...so bad
Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
neal2zod Maybe I just watch too many DTV sequels and my expectations are low, but I don't think this movie's that bad at all - it's short and fast-paced and coherent, which puts it above a lot of terrible horror sequels. The acting isn't too bad and they actually try for some character development. It delivers on the over-the-top gore from the first one and throws in some gratuitous nudity for good measure. It's not a perfect movie - the action is underwritten and the finale is anticlimactic, but there's interesting ideas here and the movie is surprisingly ahead of its time.I really don't get why people complain this one is "too different" from the first one, when it's a textbook "legacy sequel", i.e. a soft reboot/remake which has the same exact plot as the first one with a character from the original (Feldman) showing up in a supporting role. (This was obviously years ahead of Creed or Tron Legacy). Also here, the main character gets a gender swap (from angsty teenage boy to angsty teenage girl), and another huge character from the original shows up for one shot at the very end to end us on a cliffhanger. So yes, this is totally "The Force Awakens" of The Lost Boys franchise. In fact, I'd argue if this movie never came out, and they were to theatrically remake The Lost Boys today with a big budget, it would probably end up very, very similar to this. Not a must-see by any means, and nowhere as stylish or as fun as the original, but you can do much, much worse.
John Stanworth As a huge fan of the original movie, I finally brought myself to watch Lost Boys 2. For a direct-to-DVD movie, it was better than expected but there were obviously some missed opportunities. Basically the only actor to reprise his role is Corey Feldman as Edgar Frog. Corey Haim is in an end credits scene and Jamison Newlander is in a deleted scene. I know both actors wanted bigger parts in the movie so it seems like common sense. Why only have one Frog Brother? Also, this sequel seemed to follow the first movie's formula scene-by-scene. Michael and Star's teenage son and daughter move into a town close to Santa Carla (I guess they couldn't afford to film in the same location.) The daughter gets mixed up with the head vampire (played by Keither Sutherland's son) and the brother joins the gang to keep her out of danger. He drinks vampire blood, becomes a half vampire and him and Edgar proceed to stake all the vampires to break the curse. Sound a little familiar? I think the long-rumoured 'The Lost Girls' would have made a more interesting sequel. The ending was much less-climactic than the original film. The head vampire wakes-up and says "Edgar", implying they have a history or something. This goes unresolved as Edgar and the head vampire are never come in contact with one another … Oh and there's no twist with who's the head vampire. I expected the landlord when she burst into the house at the end but unfortunately not. That would have given the character a purpose in the film which she did not have. Who was she anyway; a relative or family friend? I don't think it was explained. A lot of this movie makes no sense. All in all, the movie is mildly enjoyable. I recommend watching it if the DVD isn't expensive.
T.J. Robert Tharp Lost Boys 2: The Tribe is a fun movie to watch when you have some time to kill (pun intended). As mentioned in the title here Shane Powers is a great villain (every bit as charismatic as any bad guy in Lost Boys. Corey Feldman is also good in this turn as Edgar Frog (tho his part is a smaller one). I will agree that I did not find the other lead characters as interesting (Chris Emerson), but Nicole scored the best dialogue w/ the "vegetarian" line. Yes, the climax left me wanting more, but I enjoyed the movie from start to finish. If only they did a better job of explaining Shane's background and some other topics. Oh well. I think The Tribe gets a bad rap. Still pretty good in my opinion. One thumb up (not 2 tho).
kaylacade this movie was an okay vampire movie. the acting was good for most main characters and the plot was exiting, suspenseful, funny and most of all erotic. and no I'm not just giving it a good review because I'm a huge fan of Tad Hilgenbrink. this movie was good give it a try! you'll like it! not only was the acting good but special effects also!if your a fan of the lost boys then you'll love this movie! Edgar frog is back in business! now if you want to watch a bad lost boys movie that would be the thirst! I'm a huge fan of the lost boys and that movie was horrible it was an insult the the series. so yeah, this one is really good, in my opinion, i think if you've heard some bad reviews you should still give it a shot!
