Better Late Then Never

It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

This film is a montage of images of new opera stagings, of remembrances, of discussions, and of the creative impulse behind what makes a singer sing. It's also a very German film, shot partly on location in a French Abbey, with American singers, Italian, French, and German singers, and a good deal of whimsy. If you like opera, or even if you don't, it's a terrific film.
