Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.

This is a gorgeous movie made by a gorgeous spirit.

I went into this knowing it wasn't a real documentary, but other than that, didn't know what to expect. More than 2/3 of the way through, it was still surprising me - there are many twists and turns, definitely not a hackneyed approach to the story. It does a great job of sending up the submissive Asian Geisha girl stereotype, and thoroughly blasts men who buy into it, and their horrific expectations. I recognized Eugenia Yuan from The Eye 2 right away, as I had re-watched it recently, and seeing her get to really act was delightful. I suspected that Lichi's English wasn't as bad as it seemed in the earlier scenes, and the "I want a baby" scene was pretty incredible. I hope to see her in more English language movies soon. Andrew Gurland's willingness to portray himself as such a scum in a movie that a fair number of people won't realize is fiction is impressive. I look forward to his upcoming projects as well.

This is a dark and VERY disturbing film in the sense that somewhere, some place out there...this has probably happened. The lead Character is a chubby doorman, and at first comes off as a decent guy. Soon, we come to the horrific conclusion of his true intentions. But, are we to believe that this "innocent" mail order bride is really that innocent? As the film progresses we see that not everyone behaves as they should and not all ethical choices are the correct ones. The end is by far the funniest part of this mockumentary, as the sound man's dad steals the show. With a shoestring budget, we need to keep in mind what they did with this...and the level of a film they've delivered. Give this a chance...it's like watching a train wreck in slow motion. The girlfriend and I BOTH really like this movie. Give it a chance and ignore the low rating, it is a GREAT little movie! "Keep stirring and stirring...keep stirring"

There is one thing I really don't understand. If this is a documentary, how come all the actors, are really ACTORS. In a documentary somebody is expecting real life and real things, not something that is played from the beginning to the end. I think this documentary or whatever it is, is awful. It could have been a really good touching movie, or a real documentary with real time persons and characters. I was like, hating each moment of this movie, thinking that all those girls are going somewhere they don't understand a thing, just to live a better life. But if a better life is being with old disgusting perverts, or young and frustrated maniacs,I don't know what to say.

I have to admit that this movie was well done, but the net effect of how it made me feel was simply 'bad'. I can see the intended black humor, clever and innovative script, and good performances throughout the movie. However, it's simply depressing to watch. One of the most interesting aspects of this movie are the ideas that went into it. These included most of the down aspects - everything from older men and barely 'old-enough' girls, servitude, abuse, exploitation, etc. It's clever, but depressing to watch. I'd say pass on this one unless you want to feel bad.
