In other words, this film is a surreal ride.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

Based on the life of notorious serial killer Charles Sobhraj, 'Main Aur Charles' is a richly acted biopic, about a notorious man. Even as a film, its decent, but not as sharp as one expects it to be.'Main Aur Charles' is Inspired by true events and told from the perspective of respected Indian cop, Amod Kanth who handled the notorious case of serial killer, Charles Sobhraj.'Main Aur Charles' aces as far the performances are concerned. Randeep Hooda is appropriately creepy as the serial killer, flaunting a french accent & alluring women with sheer effectiveness. Adil Hussain nails every bit of Amod Kanth, portraying the honest cop to the fullest. Richa Chadda is absolutely stunning as Mira, Charles's girlfriend, who, without any remorse, defends the criminal. Its an eerie performance, performed majestically. On the flip-side, 'Main Aur Charles' is unevenly Written. Prawaal Raman's Screenplay begins on an excellent note & the series of events that follow, manage to arrest your attention aptly. Its the second-hour, that begins to fall. The pace drops & the drama in this hour, lacks the punch. Even the culmination, doesn't leave a big impact. Raman's Writing is great partly & ordinary otherwise. Raman's Direction, on the other-hand, oozes style. The Cinematography & The Editing, deserve a special mention. On the whole, 'Main Aur Charles' stuns in parts, sadly, not entirely.

So here's a movie made to honour Charles Sobhraj since Indian directors felt they needed a break from kissing upto D & Co. While Indian commercial cinema is known to dramatically and illogically exaggerate and idolize the lead characters, this movie somehow seriously falls flat where this exaggeration in the right aspects would've helped. This movie cannot be classified as classic popcorn fare or artsy in anyway. Having a cast of Randeep Hooda, Richa Chadda and Adil Hussain alone should've carried this past its various directorial failures but it seems the buffoonery was just too overwhelming even for them. A plot not well connected, an awkward pacing of events and one terrible and I mean really terrible...french accent from Hooda. While the movie glorifies the lead character over his prized womanizer skills, the women themselves looked like they'd have asked for more pay, a bottle of vodka and a joint to go through those scenes of romance with him!As usual, the premise of hyping Charles' smartness was.....no surprises here....at the expense of the Indian police on a national scale. Don't we all just love how criminals make a mockery of our police force.Coming to the female cast....Richa Chadda brings a class of sleaze that's different. The umpteen white women ooze their fair share of cinematic stereotyped cheapness. Tisca Chopra was the only one who didn't share bedspace fantasies with the main lead it seems. What a tragedy! This movie could've worked better cinematography and direction. But with cheesy "evil never loses" lines at the ending...not much to expect..from a movie that never really climaxes anywhere...not even when the lead is hooking drugged women.

A film based on the Bikini Killer, Charles Shobhraj. Directed by Prawaal Raman. Randeep Hooda plays the role of Charles. Film is very fast and super stylish in the first half. Almost everyone, even I also can't be able to find out what's going on. Because the pace is too high for the Indian audience like me. So, probably you may not be able to identify the smartness of Charles. The planning of escapism from Tihar Jail looks normal, even dumb in first half, but in climax, where the film shows the actual fact of the story, you will get mad for the planning of Charles. Definitely a stylish watch. But, only few can catch up what the director is trying to show. Randeep acted superbly. I don't like Richa in the film, don't know the reason. Adil Khan and Tisca Chopra are perfect. Background score is too good. Jab Chhaye Tera Jadu song is amazing, so as its singer Kanika Kapoor. Kudos to the director for giving a totally new vision. But, people are not ready yet, so better luck next time!

Plot: 'Main Aur Charles' is a work of fiction inspired by true events. It captures the infamous Tihar(Delhi) jailbreak of 1986, and the prime accused in it,'Charles'(of French origin), is a man who's charming, hypnotic, manipulative and dangerous. Before being imprisoned in Delhi, Charles was the prime suspect in a couple of murders in Bangkok(Thailand), but managed to flee before the law caught up with him. Charles' targets comprise mainly tourists, backpackers and hippies. He's quite a ladies man. He befriends them, woos them, and then deceives them. No doubt, he's referred to as 'The Serpent' in newspapers. He knows 14 languages, and can use the brains of other people. The film narrates the sequence of events leading to his apprehension, his trial in Delhi, the jailbreak which he executed on purpose, his subsequent apprehension in Goa,and the investigation which follows. But more than that, the film gives viewers a peek into the mind of Charles and his mysterious personality where good and bad blend into a charming and mystique grey existence.Cast: Randeep Hooda as 'Charles' gives a controlled and nuanced performance. Be it his look, his English-French accent, his evil charm, Randeep nails it. After watching the film you'll feel only he could've pulled off this role with so much ease and no one else. This is definitely one of his finest performances and he proves it yet again that he is one of Bollywood's most versatile actors. Richa Chadda as 'Meera' is marvelous. She plays a law student who falls for Charles. She looks really beautiful and carries off her role with elegance. Adil Hussain plays the cop 'Amod Kant' investigating the jailbreak case. He gives a power packed performance and his baritone will really scare you. Nandu Madhav plays the cop 'Sudhakar Zende' who apprehends Charles in Goa after he escapes from Tihar jail. He gives a superb performance. The rest of the cast comprising Alex O'Nell, Vipin Sharma, Tisca Chopra etc. deliver subtle performances.Direction: Prawaal Raman of 'Darna Mana Hai', 'Gayab' and '404' fame does a splendid job. He's written the screenplay and dialogues as well. He's the real hero of the film. The brilliant camera-work by Anuj Dhawan, and the crisp editing by Nipun Gupta give the film the edge. The music by Aditya Trivedi is unusual and edgy especially the 'Theme Of Charles' track, and the background score adds to the thriller element in the film. My personal favourites from the album are the tracks 'Jee Lo Yaaron', 'Ya Rabba' and 'Theme Of Charles'.All in all, 'Main Aur Charles' is the coolest movie of 2015 so far, and must not be missed. The line told by Amod Kant towards the end of the film 'Jeet hamesha sachchai ki hoti hai, par buraai kabhi haarti nahin ' will stay with you after you've left the theatre. My rating - 10/10
