The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
Bond Fever
Went to watch 'Mallu Singh' yesterday & i must say the movie will stand out - not because of an outstanding story - but because of the never seen before in malayalam cinema locales of punjab, above average performances, the beautiful female actors & to top it all , Unni Mukundan, the icing on the cake who's talent has been well utilized in the film. While Mallu Singh's earlier counterpart Pxbi house was shot mostly indoors, this one is shot mostly outside in the lush greens of Punjab, fully exploring the wheat fields, the vegetation & the sing & dance culture. It is necessary to point out how effortlessly, & smoothly the lead actor Kunjacko Boban portrays his role as the elder brother. His moves in the dance performances terrific too.Samvrutha Sunil is getting better with every film I must say. Unfortunately none of the girls have much to do with the film than to dress up & look gorgeous . However , thanks to the 5 female actors, the film looks different & has a fresh feel, much needed for Malayalam cinema today – on the basis of how they (should) portray female actors.Unni Mukundan has had to don two different roles here as "mallu singh" and as the traditional mallu brother. This could be a hit or miss scenario for him considering his lack of experience but he has come out in flying colors! He has excelled whether in the dance , action or scenes. Beyond his talent there is an undeniable sex appeal about him that will of course raise him to the level of superstar of tomorrow.
