Intcatinfo A Masterpiece!
Organnall Too much about the plot just didn't add up, the writing was bad, some of the scenes were cringey and awkward,
Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
cricketbat Midnight in Paris is a romantic comedy for intellectuals. Humanities majors will probably get the biggest kick out of it - giving smug looks to each other as each author and artist appear on the screen, nodding knowingly at the obscure references and inside jokes. Me? I spent most of the time looking up each character on my phone. However, that being said, it is still enjoyable. The story is interesting and I like the message of the movie: don't idolize the past, enjoy the present.
papanda I LOVE this movie! I went to Paris as a preteen and unfortunately was too young and immature to really appreciate it. This movie makes me fall in love with Paris and eager to visit again. It's also a great film about artistry of all kinds and will make any aspiring writer/painter/filmmaker/etc want to crack out their precious baby project and put their all into it! I would recommend this movie to anyone that is a thinking type, artist, or simply a Francophile. Beautiful shots of Paris, wonderful performances of the "modern day" actors who portray the character in ways that seem like real people you would meet in Real life, and great representation from the "1920's" actors who do a great job at bringing the greatest minds of that era to life. I urge anyone to watch this! It's a great film and an inspiring story that makes anyone eager to create!
muhammad-qishta Just watched " Midnight in Paris " . Honestly and surprisingly too , I have never watched any of Allen's movies before and i don't know how i lost all my freaking last years without hitting any of his movies . The opening shots of the movie that depicting the city of lights were very splendid. The camera within few seconds was creatively able to get you there instantly . Clouds , uniquely beautiful streets , alleys , french architecture , boulevards , rains and everything . Allen took Paris into its era of glory and magic .The well-written screenplay was a vivid of fantasy and romance like a fascinating dream you don't wanna wake up from . And it could list Allen as one of the greatest screenwriters all the time without any doubts . Life is so sophisticated and humans beings are more and more , that's one of the movie messages that Woody focused to convey to viewers and he did . Let's not forget the soundtracks which were such classical and unique .And here's the element which worth the most flattering , the casting choice . I talk here in particular about Owen Wilson as Gil and Marion cotillard as lovely Adriana . This couple played an exceptional remarkable role . Owen was hilariously convincing even though the Gil character was very complicated, he did a great job indeed . I'm so lucky i have loads of Allen's movies unwatched to keep them as a treasure and check just one movie per year .
maoenjoyhappy Gil, an engaged successful screenplay writer of Hollywood but struggling as a novelist, spends time in his beloved country Paris with his fiancé, Inez and her parents. Walking around at midnight by himself, he is seduced by some passengers of an old car to ride. Surprisingly, he slips back in time to the golden age of 1920'. Then Paris draws him ardently more and more… My first impression on this film is what a beautiful streetscape Paris is. The sound and the scenery match perfectly and never fail to fascinate us even though the first a couple of minutes show us just the view of Paris. No wonder why Gil is obsessed with Paris and so am I about to be. What I literally interested in is that so many famous artists and writers in 20' such as Picasso, Dali, Hemingway and Fitzgerald show up on a sudden. The relationship between them is depicted in a comical way. At first, it seems that it is just the time slip film, but it is more valuable to watch it. After watching this, you must be overwhelmed by the Paris scenery and must hold a feeling that you want to fly to Paris!
