A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

The basic idea is OK and I love the fact it's reminiscent of 70's horror flick, however it's very middle of the road. It doesn't make me hate it and I don't love it. It's the film version of a flavored rice cake. It has some flavor too it though, not enough to keep it interesting. Not much stands out, but I will list the points where it does stand out and that is what gives this rice cake it's seasoning and what easily takes it away. The killer coming out of the movie and design I find at least interesting. The killer's mask and look kinda remind me of Rick from Splatter house video games although much skinnier especially with the design of the killer's mask. I also like the killer's weapon and it coming out of the movie(the basis for the whole thing) is never once addressed how this happens. The Runes Radford uses in the beginning scrawled out of his own blood are never explained or mentioned ever again why he did it or anything just that he does because he's crazy and that's it.The other gripe I have is the shots of the killer coming out of the basement is and how it's angled is supposed to be a reference to Texas Chainsaw, but it isn't even a small subtle nod it's pretty much the exact shot with now of the scare factor chainsaw had. Also, while the gore effects are done well, there is never a moment were you are taken back by said gore/kill and the movie so short you don't really get to know many of the characters to develop any sort of liking one over another. Those gripes aside the gore effects are nice and I also liked how it dispenses with the stupid college kids/cop that don't believe until it's too late and they act like actual people. It's cool, what they were trying to do, but you end up with something that definitely feels like a half hearted attempt rather than a labor of love. In the right hands this movie could've been a lot better.

When you're in the mood for a great horror film with lots of exotic kills, this movie is great for you. Though the movie starts out as a typical teen slasher flick, it stays true to some other class horror flicks of good quality. Midnight Movie pays homage to to Hitchcock in its movie with in the movie shot in black and white. The cast is made of relatively new people on the Hollywood scene, but were good enough to have a great on screen chemistry. Rebekah Brandes, the lead in Midnight Movie Killer cut is a standout amongst the cast. I look to see her career blossom soon as she gets more and more mainstream. the editing of this movie is also superb, the mixing of soundtrack and the film was dine very good for a horror film, they made sure not to give away every scary moment with for-shadowed music. all in all, if your in the mood for a slasher film with a new take on the genera Midnight Movie Killer cut is great for you.

I just saw a screening of Midnight Movie, the new Killer Cut, and loved it. The premise is really interesting—it's kind of a movie-within-a-movie so it's able to reference back to old horror classics like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, while still staying current and fresh. There's some gore but not to the point where it's overdone or overwhelming, which I personally appreciated. Also, if you've already seen the original version of Midnight Movie, the Killer Cut is brand new with extra scenes, some scenes redone, and the quality of the special effects is awesome. If you're really into movie scores and scary music, this one was voted 'Top 100 Scariest Scores of All Time.' Overall it's a great thriller!

I caught a screener of Midnight Movie: the Killer Cut. I loved the retro horror style...really took me back to some old favorites. It had enough gore but not so much that it was pointless and it had some really fun characters, which is always a plus. Not to mention, with all these remakes and reboots, it was great to see a horror flick with a new original story line. The whole concept of a horror movie in the theater intertwining with the real world sounded weird to me at first and I wasn't sure how it would play out, but I actually enjoyed the way they handle in the movie and how they mesh the two worlds together. I really enjoyed the ending a lot, and I must say that's very important to me. If the ending falls short, I feel cheated, but I found myself pleasantly surprised in this case. Any old school horror fans out there would probably enjoy this movie, a good old fashioned setup of a group of people getting knocked off in a secluded location, but with some new interesting concepts.
