Nonureva Really Surprised!
Softwing Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??
AutCuddly Great movie! If you want to be entertained and have a few good laughs, see this movie. The music is also very good,
WillSushyMedia This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.
jdesando Mile 22 is an espionage thriller that is pure crack for the action addicted. So much action that characterization is left in the cars' dust or lost in high-tech programs. While the techno-glitz and high-speed chases dominate, now and then super government operative James Silva (Mark Wahlberg) peeks thorough with a tough line or two and a few stream-of-consciousness-Jason-Statham-like speeches, minimal at that.Yet, this film belongs to a genre that demands action, in this case smuggling an Asian police officer out of the country in order for him to disclose world-saving information. My enjoyment of this actioner, however, comes largely from the fusion of technology to our sense of vulnerability. While it is comforting to see the government using banks of computers to spy on the minute actions of bad guys, it is discomforting to realize those goons or foreign powers have the same capabilities to spy on us. Even though we can use drones to ferret out enemies, they can do the same. But no enemy can have James, a lethal weapon of high IQ, verbal dexterity, and stirring memories that keep him in the game. Mile 22 is for those who won't complain about the abundance of action and lack of story or character arc. We are in, after all, the end of summer arc when norms of traditional story telling are ignored while we indulge in action porn of the first order. You will enjoy regardless.
windowninja It's not wonderful but what it does it does very well. Peter Berg. I think nailed it. From start to end the movie kept me very interested and on the edge of my seat. The back and forth dialog was a bit forced but it worked well and walberg played someone that he does not normally play(mr cool guy.) He was rattled and unhinged and if you can look past the fact that most governments would keep this character away from guns and not make him the leader of anything. It is a movie after all and not fact. Think most people forget that. When they complain about everything. It was not the typical American ending and I liked that a lot about it. Check it out
saridaak Horrible movie. I am a rabid fan of Wahlberg, but this movie was disturbingly bad. Plot was decent but execution was excrutiatingly dissappointing.
Southerndeth Except this one. Peter Berg has Shaky-Cam Syndrome, so the fight scenes with Iko do not look as good as they should. Mark Wahlberg does a really good Dead Pool impression. Rhonda is basically making a cameo. In conclusion, this movie has machine guns, martial arts and motorcycles. You can't go wrong with that combo! Santa will be bringing me this movie (on DVD) for Christmas.
