Phonearl Good start, but then it gets ruined
Voxitype Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
Ezmae Chang This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
ahradwan6 This movie is in many ways good but i personally don't think it was great yeah sure the strong familial bond is deeply touching but in many ways i thought the movie is absurd (of-course i have no idea about prisons in Korea) it made my cry, it made my laugh, it made me feel but not in a way deep enough
nicolas-232-828687 How are movies rated? By way of cinematography? By how the characters act? By how wonderful the CGI are? By how real the movie is? Or by how much the producer spent in the movie?I do not really care for all of the above.. For me, I rate a movie 10 if I felt the desire to watch it again after a week. If I selflessly share it with others or brag about how good it was or feel proud when I hear somebody else praise it..Those are my parameters.I wouldn't have mind if you didn't care how a rated this movie or how I reviewed it if I only wanted it for myself. But I really wanted others to watch it. Watch it especially with their daughter if they have one. I promise you, this movie will make you laugh so hard but in the end it will make you cry so much..One thing good about movies is, they can make make you laugh and you'll love them, they can make you cry but you'll still love them nonetheless:-) This movie is all about that.I advise you .. DON'T JUST WATCH IT!.. WATCH IT AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN...
kalaiarasane-189-301046 I watched this movie last night and I haven't recovered from the impact the movie created in me yet. Initially, I thought this would be a usual jail break thing, but the characterization, screenplay and the humor really made it an awesome flick(only problem was I had to use English subs to understand the dialogues), but be ready to wet your eyes at the end of the movie. The little girl's acting(she actually lived as Ye- Seung) is what the lubricant to the movie I really loved her acting and the director took a good care of every single shot and the characters(though there are some usual scenes like Ryu Seung-Ryong rescuing the prisoner captain and the jail don to attain the sympathy from them) and gave a masterpiece. Every character in the movie played their part well especially Won-sang Park, Man-shik Jeong, Dal-su Oh and Kim Jung Tae and the prisoner guard who will come and enquire every time....and last but not least The soul of the movie Ryu Seung-Ryong has done a fabulous job...hats off!!!(I believe I have mentioned all of the character)...1...2...3...
aquarius92 For all of you saying that this story wasn't realistic, you're pitting the legal system of Korea against the legal system of America/England/Australia/Canada where you're used to it being (somewhat) fair for inmates. If it weren't for the documentary I saw on Youtube about how f**ked up the court systems and jail facilities are in almost all of Asia I wouldn't have believed that these prisoners could get away with everything they got away with, and that this case could have been blamed on Yong-Go even though it was obvious he didn't do it. In Asia it is all, entirely, COMPLETELY about saving face and keeping a good reputation. Even if the Chief of Police knew he didn't do it, Yong- Go still would have been executed just for the simple fact that everyone believed that he was a murderer and no-one would want the misfortune of being labeled a liar. It would just be easier to keep everything under hush and continue on with the lie. Obviously the kid wouldn't have happened, but who'd believe that anyway? Also the inmates would be under 100% more supervision and the guards would be 1,000,000% more corrupt. That's why the court system in Japan/Korea/China isn't spoken about much, even to the people who live there. Jail is a big NO-NO and your life is guaranteed ruined if you're ever sent. The very best and most desired lawyer in Asia would be laughed at and swept aside in America/England/Australia/Canada. So yeah, to me it was more realistic than most people because I know the court system there isn't half as structured, or public, as it is in the western world.
