GetPapa Far from Perfect, Far from Terrible
Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Frances Chung Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Brooklynn There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.
wraithguardomega Chevy Chase plays a self defeatist chump very well, i'd have preferred him to be more fletch-esquire and confident but hey, he has to vary the characters some times.it's an OK plot and the characters are well defined, which unfortunately makes their reactions predictable to the smart viewer.Reminds me of "the man with two brains" not sure why it just has that strangeness to it.The other reviewer must have some sort of attitude problem, yes you are meant to take it as a joke, it's not a serious nose bleed, he didn't actually have a gun, they are JOKES, you said it yourself
RIPBelushi I watched this on HBO the other day and I have to say i was not quite impressed (but then again i had low standards going into the movie in the first place). The script was an amateur attempt at making a Chevy Chase vehicle, the jokes were terrible and the special effects were a bit to be desired. The movie was bad...it was bad bad bad.However..This is one of those movies that is so bad that it leaves you going back to see it again. I had originally taped it on DVR, and afterward, I found myself keeping it and not deleting it like I had originally planned."Modern Problems" has Chevy Chase as a guy who has an extremely bad day. However, as the Hollywood rules go, dump some toxic waste on him and give him some supernatural powers. Cliché I know. But oh so fun. In movies like this you see the person becoming some sort of superhero. This movie breaks away from the cliché and has the guy act out revenge towards the people who have harmed him (not to mention giving his girlfriend one hell of an orgasm.)The end is a little weird, and definitely stupid, but I couldn't help but laugh at the wackiness of it all. And the message at the end (if you haven't been disgusted by it just yet), just goes to show that there is always someone who will love you.Patti D'Arbanville also surprised me. She wasn't bad at all. She was pretty good. She's a great crier and shows great emotion when she acts.5/10. Simply because it had potential but someone completely missed it.
movieman_kev Chevy Chase stars as Max Fiedler, a down on his luck air traffic controller who develops the power of telekinesis via nuclear waste. He uses said power to take vengeance on anyone that had wronged him. A mildly intriguing premise is undermined by loose, unfunny writing, horrid acting, and dated material. I couldn't even count the laughs I had on one hand. It's a chore to sit through with the only actor coming out relatively unscathed being Brian Doyle-Murray who is pretty damn good in ANYthing he does no matter how horrid the material (case in point) My Grade: D
MAJORIC This is the first time I saw a movie that required viewing instructions. If you have a DVD player, skip the first five episodes and you'll find this movie funnier. Utterly zany, but actually funnier. (For those still in VCR stone age, fast forward the first twenty-five minutes to reproduce previous step.) Later, if you want to flesh out what you just saw, watch what you skipped and you'll get much more enjoyment of your viewing. This is as first caught my glimpse of this crazily fun movie (with a Spanish soundtrack to boot! Which is a cahoot! By the way, the guy who lent his voice for Dabney Coleman in the Spanish version was better in character than Dabney himself! Not with that silly southern drawl that seems to come and go without him noticing!) and found myself wondering what this silly thing I was watching and fully expecting what was at the next turn. Later I caught the first reels and that made the movie more solid, but were rather slow and disappointing. Personally, I cannot make better recommendation, specially for a movie that so pin-pointedly expressed my opinions of male ballet dancers. Rent it, follow instructions and enjoy!
