I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

A South Korean schoolgirl has been killed, and she's just good looking enough to make people care. Who is the culprit? Nobody knows. Could it be the local village idiot? Quite possibly, but also possibly not. Whatever the case, the authorities are convinced of his guilt. Can Yoon Do-joon's mother reach the truth of this mystery before the police send an innocent man to prison? Will Jin-tae get the money he's demanding? Who burned down the house of the old scrap dealer? Why is Sae-beauk Song such a dick? This one's a slooooooooooooooooooow burn-even by the excruciatingly glacial standards of South Korean cinema-but the payoff is worth it.I rate Madeo at 26.64 on the Haglee Scale, which works out as a relentless 8/10 on IMDB.

Mother tells the story of an old unnamed woman who begins an investigation of her own to find out the real culprit when her own mentally-challenged son is arrested & tricked into signing a confession for the horrific murder of a high-school girl. Though it may look like another one of those stories where a person is falsely convicted of a crime he didn't commit & in the end is proved innocent, Mother brings a slightly different dimension of its own into this tale and never gives out the mystery until the film's final third act which reveals itself in a manner that most people wouldn't see coming.Smartly directed by Bong Joon-ho, who introduces dark humour & radically shifting narratives but still make the story work as a whole, brilliantly written & smoothly photographed as well, what makes this film really fascinating is the impressive lead performance by Kim Hye-ja as the unnamed mother living with her son & wonderfully portrays how far she is willing to go to protect her son out of maternal love & care. Wo Jin has magnificently played Do-joon, the disabled son who is prone to hitting back whenever someone mocks his disability. On an overall scale, Mother is part unsettling, part heartbreaking & part thrilling black comedy that promises an emotional roller-coaster ride & delivers so. It may not be as great a masterpiece as Bong Joon-ho's Memories of Murder, but succeeds as a good thriller nonetheless that comes full circle in the end to finish on a note that's as weirdly funny as it is tragic.

This is seriously the most epic film I've ever seen in my whole life. The epicness of the film can not even be described. The son is epic. The mother is epic, the WHOLE THING is so epic!!!!!!! It is so epic I would recommend this epic film to any people who likes epic films. It is the most epic film I've ever seen. I've said this before, BUT IT'S EPIC. EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But It's really epic, and I'm not even saying this to trick you into watching a non-epic film. It's seriously an epic film. Everything about this epic film is epic. The 2 main characters are played epicly. The scene where the boy scissor kicks the officer in the back of the head is so freaking epic. Literally. Watch this epic film. 10/10 for epicness.

Memories of Murder, Oldboy & Madeo are the three Korean movies which will stay in your mind for a long time. This is the first time I'm writing a review for a movie at IMDb and this movie really deserves one. Madeo is about a mother who is trying desperately to bring her son out of imprisonment. I watched it late night, the screenplay is engrossing to such an extent that some scenes of the movie gave me goosebumps. Narration, Music and Cinematography make it an absorbing experience. The build up to the climax is really amazing. It's really hard to predict what happens next. There is something about the Korean movies which brings the characters involved in it closer to your heart. Be it the performances or the body language it stirs your heart. In the end when the mother dances on the tour bus after injecting herself with acupuncture, especially with music in the background leaves a lump in your throat.
