This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

I really wasn't expecting to like the movie, so throughout the time watching, i was pleasantly surprised. Loved the use of models and clay animation, gave the movie a quaint, second movie at the drive-in feel. An all around good vibe happening from this flick.

I quite enjoyed MUTANT WAR, a straight-to-video independent science fiction movie made as a sequel to GALAXY DESTROYER. The story is about a hero wandering a post-apocalyptic landscape and struggling to survive against overwhelming odds. There are giant stop motion creatures straight out of a Ray Harryhausen movie, cloaked attackers like the ones from STAR WARS, zombies, and various human gangs with murder in mind. There's little in the way of plot but plenty in the way of action, all of it delivered enthusiastically on what is a very low budget indeed. The special effects are generally cheesy but fun and while the acting is nothing to write home about, Cameron Mitchell shows up late on to amuse as an OTT bad guy. It's not quite on par with Steve Barkett's THE AFTERMATH, but I enjoyed it all the same.
