Really Surprised!

This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

MYSTIC BLADE is a very low budget martial arts flick from Thailand, featuring as its leads a bunch of actors who were stunt men or bit players in the likes of ONG BAK and WARRIOR KING. And yet, despite the lo-fi feel, I found myself enjoying it, at least to a degree. Sure, the non-action bits require fast-forwarding because they're really predictable and not really worth bothering with, but the action does deliver at times. The film is deeply unoriginal and seems to be a cross between ONG BAK and RAMBO in terms of stylistics, with a little Lone Wolf & Cub influence added to the mix. The protagonist is deeply uncharismatic and the most interesting performers are those in support, like GAME OF THRONES actor Conan Stevens and the giant Thai guy. However, the frequent action scenes, particularly in the second half, are quite tolerable, only occasionally spoilt by some silly wire work. Otherwise these actors do have good moves and the violence is quite satisfying.

I am about halfway through the movie, and if you're anything like me, you'll need closure. So...don't even start to watch the movie. As stated by other reviewers, the acting is similar to the acting you'd see in a local commercial. The fighting is what you'd see in a beginner's fighting class. And the story, it's the same story you've seen time and time again.I love watching train wrecks, so I just have to finish what I started, and see this through to the end. I'm sure it's exactly as I expect it to be, because I expect no plot twists, and I've seen this movie before with a different title, and much better acting.Just my two cents, but save your time, and money, and watch something with more substance. Wish me luck on finishing the rest of the movie.

This was bad. Where do I start.I had got this for the fighting I was expecting to see. The fights look like they had been arranged by a glee club. The acting was a fire hazard it was that wooden. the only redeeming parts were the animated sections. The story what little there was was a pale imitation of Lone Wolf and Cub but I wont say that too loud in case I insult that good story. The best part about this movie is undoubtedly the end credits. This means that you have endured the waste of time that is this movie. The credits move with a grace and style that was missing from the combat scenes.Value your time and dodge this train wreck of a movie.

This is the typical highly skilled trained team of killers, one has a conscious, is left for dead by the rest of the group, but guess what, he's not dead. Oh yeah, they killed his wife. So he seeks out the rest of the team for revenge, taking with him his baby son, who's crying every other minute in the movie. You watch a movie like this for the action, which is a total stinker. Guys throwing their punches in slo mo as to not hurt the other actor. Its dreadful. None of the fight scenes are any good. Also, the lead actor gets stabbed thru the center of the chest (heart?) not once, but twice thru out the movie. The second time he's immediately walking away with his son like it was nothing. The movie is mercifully short but don't waste your time.
