Raam Simply because I watched Nanban first and Vijay spoiled the 3 idiots experience for me. :(I think a Tamil remake of this movie was very much necessary and Shankar did the right thing by just doing that. Surya is probably a better choice for Amir's role, but I heard he declined it. Smart decision! :) He had no option except to go for a popular star and so 'Vijay'. I don't know who else would have fit for the role. Anyway. May be Jeeva.It would be a lengthy review if I have to list what was missing in Vijay's performance. At a high level, 'the acting' was missing. Just like any other movie he did what he could. I enjoyed (in the order)Jeeva's performance - Sathyaraj's virus act ( apt casting by Shankar) - Sathyan's comedy act (but a little bit of overacting and I couldn't see him as a bright student) - SJ Surya's cameo - Shankar's direction ( especially he didn't try to bring in new stuff that was not needed) - Harris songs

mkmfans I'm an American and when i wanted to watch an Indian movie for the first time i asked what movie could i watch for weekend , some of my staffs have been from India, they recommended me to watch "Nanban" an Indian movie, i must say, i truly enjoyed it to the maximum extent and i thanked them for recommending an excellent film.I recommend this movie to all...young and old. It's a winner forever in my heart.Vijay as pari rocked to the core he does a brilliant job as always. He's an amazing actor and*really* funny too. Other good performances, come from jivaa and sreekanth.Cinematography was Major highlight. I loved it completely..completely..completely.

Abinaya Keerthi SHANKAR... the name is enough to create an excitement in any cinema-fan alive. Endhiran,Sivaji have been awesome films, and his latest offering 'NANBAN' is another Masterstroke from this genius. I have no idea how 5-point-someone is, all I know is that 'NANBAN' is an amazing/awesome/inspiring film. A treat of a film! A film that is rich in emotions, A Film that leaves behind a great moral. The Youth are sure to worship this Film, and that will make this film a blockbuster. Cancel anything you're planning to do till the January 31st, watch 'NANBAN', it's worth your time and money. SHANKAR and rajkumar hirani script is simply superb. Through Humor how many rights and wrongs are said. I really loved the way Shankar showed Jivaa's family. A typical1950's family, it's hilarious as well as genius. The film has Superb Performances: Vijay is fantastic as Panjavan Parivendan aka Kosaksi Pasapugol.He's a delight every time he appears on screen and delivers his careers finest work.Srikanth excels,he's astounding in the sequence when he shares his heart with his father. Jivaa is good, yet again. Sathyan is a Masterstroke. A surprise packet, his speech sequence is sure to be remembered forever! Ileana is weak.Sathyaraj is mind-blowing as the vicious head. He leaves you speechless in the scene when he awards Vijay the Pen.Anuya is average. The Music is decent, with 'All Izz Well' and 'Asku Laska' being a complete chart-buster. The cinematography is brilliant while background score is amazing. All other departments are satisfactory. Watch this film right now...

Trishna Kumar First of i want to say That IM an Huge fan of Surya and not a fan nor a hater of Vijay or Shankar either until i watched this movie in my town with my lovable friends. I laughed,cried,thinked throughout the movie on a whole i enjoyed it and when comes out of cinema hall i feel like I'm quite refreshed. Such a GREAT MOVIE. THIS IS NOT Completely philosophical movie. THIS IS NOT completely comedy movie. THIS IS NOT completely Poigonant movie. THIS IS NOT completely Friendship movie.BUT ALL the were married into 1 source and NANBAN Forms. There's absolutely the reasons behind talking this movie, Indian educational system is worst ever so far, they pressure students to mug-up everything and write it on paper,put marks,give certificate and join a job.But the movie simply narrated on how the education system should be and it tells students should enjoy and love learning so many new things in whatever course you study rather mugs up just for the sake of passing out ! I have never seen any vijay movies in cinema halls until Nanban. HE is surely a BEST ACTOR. Alongside, jiva and srikanth performed well while ileana and satyaraj were good.satyan was at his best. Shankar sir has directed it and screenplay was so natural like happening and every scene contains a deep novelic feel and knowledge which served with fun and emotions there have lot of twist and turns which make every audience to be seated till the end of the movie and i felt this movie don't want to end because it was like a pleasures journey we go. Go WATCH IT , IT Will give you a LIFETIME Achievement Happiness. Verdict:BEST OF WHOLE TAMIL CINEMA
