The greatest movie ever made..!

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

The low rating is misleading. I felt compelled to write this so others looking for a fun family movie will have a real review.I read the books when I was a kid. I took my daughter to watch this movie. We all enjoyed it. They did a great job keeping to the original 60's Nancy Drew style while having the story set in present day LA. The film is original, witty, fast-paced and charming. The plot was easy enough for kids to follow, but interesting enough to keep adults engaged. Emma Roberts did a superb job and the rest of the cast was good. I continue to be baffled by the ratings here on IMDb: solid movies get bad ratings while blockbuster trash get higher ratings. It's become an instrument of the professional (paid) critics who are trying to control their public, rather than the public helping each other with honest input.

this movie was so childish.watch the old 1940's nancy drew movies, they are much much much better.the girl in the movie looks and acts like she's 13. nothing she does is believable.they took a series of good mystery books and turned it into a movie for 10 year olds who probably never even read her books.this movie was a insult to the nancy drew series.they need to make nancy like 19-21, and have more serious stuff.watch it if its free, and nothing else on.i rate it a 3 on a stink-a-roo meter

I'm a big fan of Emma Roberts and seen her in many shows and movies before, such as a movie "Aquamarine" and show called "Unfabulous". They were all great shows and movies and I was dead impressed by her performances, they were spectacular, and she put lots of energy in them as well, which is an added bonus. Well done Em.Then I heard about her new movie, "Nancy Drew" and I was surprised to her in the movie, because she is normally plays a young teenage average teenage girl who likes to go shopping and hang out with her friends. But this movie, it changes her personality, she's no longer a normal average teenager, she also likes to solve mysteries and will stop at nothing to uncover the truth. Which is fantastic, because we see two different Emmas here and it's great to see her in some sort of mystery movie.As for me, no fan of the books or Nancy Drew, I thought I could give this movie a try and surprisingly it was a great movie. And her are the reasons why I enjoyed it : The performances were all fabulous, all the cast done their role fluently and you can see they put lots of energy in their role to make this movie worthwhile. But the one that stands out, was Emma Roberts, who surprised us all with her sleuthing and she is still young, but she was the heart of the movie.As for the plot, very good. But I feel a little more action could be delivered, because in some parts of the movie, it's boring. So if the finishing action were 15 minutes longer, it would have been excellent. But overall a great plot, simple and complex, with not too much dialogue or characters, so the well done writers.Overall, a fun movie, with a few twists to keep us entertained. With splendid performances by the cast, it scored hundreds and points for this movie, but a little more action could be added, if there was it could have been excellent. I thought 8 stars was right was the right rating for this movie, because of its brilliance. So once again, well done cast and crew.

There's another viewer who boasted that they'd read all the original books and how Emma roberts was perfect as Nancy Drew etc etc. Well, I too have read all the original stories and I couldn't disagree more. Those stories were very good and I loved Nancy Drew but I always imagined her to be older (say 18/19), more fun and more natural. Instead we get a characters who's 14/15 years old goody two shoes know it all who's somehow more intelligent at crime solving than the police...well that was the case in the stories so I guess I can't really gripe about that fact.I'm sure that the plot was good but Nancy Drew was completely miscast not to mention that the characters were made to be a lot younger so it's kind of hard to take them seriously in this story. emma roberts was a poor choice (she's definitely not a good actress) and on her way to becoming the next anne hathaway (another lame actress in her own right).I really hope that there isn't another nancy drew movie if the same cast and director are used again. It was an utter chore to watch this movie and there was absolutely nothing else interesting on TV at the time (it was either this or watch the HGTV on how to make the perfect drywall).
