Excellent, a Must See
Doomtomylo
a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

Adapted from a book, it seems like the screenwriters just sketched out enough scenes to cover the various plot points in the book, and unimaginatively. Richard Gere is too laid-back to breathe any life into the lifeless, inevitable plot progression, so it was miscast. Since there are no surprises in the story, no crisis/resolution sequences, perhaps the entire movie in flashback with narration could have saved it? I don't know.

This movie has the signature of Nicholas Sparks - romance and tragedy. It has been the same for all his works which have been made into movies - the notebook, A walk to remember, message in a bottle, dear John. Nights is no different. It's a sweet love story. Richard Gere and Diane lene depict believable characters. Full marks to both of them for the chemistry and displayed emotions. I fell for the locations of the movie and the cinematography - The inn is breathtaking with all the blue colours. What a beach location! The extra effort to make the actors wear some shade of blue all the time was clearly visible. Would have appreciated the movie more if time was invested in building up the love between richard and diane. It seemed a bit abrupt. I did feel happy when they hooked up and sad when Richard dies, but the magic of "A walk to remember" was missing. That movie really touched me...nights just missed it by inches.Overall, for a Nicholas Sparks work, I was hoping for more magic. 6.5 out of 10 for me.

This movie made absolutely no sense! Do not waste your precious time watching it. The best parts of the movie were the scenery and the music...everything else was terrible. It was slow and boring and there was no real rhyme or reason for Gere and Lane falling in love. Two people in their circumstances would be guarded and the last thing that would be on their mind is falling in love. it's one thing for two people at that age and that part in their lives to see a spark but to fall deeply in love and change their whole life outlook is insanely unbelievable. It would have made much more sense if they slept with each other to relieve some stress and went on their way!!! Nothing was believable about this movie plus it was extremely booorrringg!!!!!

First of all this is a film that women will enjoy. For me it was not as interesting as THE NOTEBOOK or UNFAITFUL both of which were more believable. There are two main characters in this story. Adrienne a busy housewife and mother(Diane Lane) and Paul a surgeon (Richard Gere). They give splendid performances and are on the screen most of the time. Most of the other characters are bit parts.Adrienne's friend Jean (Viola Davis) is the only character that provides any kind of comedy relief. Most of the characters have shattered relationships.Paul has a son Jack also a doctor but working under primitive hospital conditions. Paul is on his way to help Jack and stays overnight in a beach hotel where Adrienne is the relieving manager for her good friend Jean. That night a hurricane hits the coast. Adrienne and Paul find themselves in each other's arms as the storm rages and the shutters bang against the windows. It seemed like a good excuse to show their true feelings. Paul admires Adrienne for the intense love she has for her children. There is a scene in the film that will move many when a local Torrelson family blame Paul for the death of Mrs. Torrelson who collapsed under anaesthesia. Paul answers with statistics but Adrienne gives him a little lesson on sympathy.Paul is at his son's hospital for a long time. Adrienne can hardy wait for his return. Then one night there is a knock at the hotel's door. She dashes to open it...........There are numerous messages in this film about human relations. We are told there are different kinds of love. We can learn from each other and through love we can make amends for past behaviour. The film does not preach. Sincerity is the key.
