Good concept, poorly executed.

The movie really just wants to entertain people.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

Well, Paris Warner showed the victim behaviour well: young people who are used to emotional violence usually move as if they are "wooden", they don't know how to react "correctly", they have difficulties in communication, they are shy, unconfident, they don't know how to show their emotions and it's hard for them to get difference between saying "i love you" and actually meaning it and they can easily stuck in relationships they don't need because of the fear to hurt a person (or because of belief that it's a normal situation) etc. So without any help they can actually grow up into adult victims. Tim Flynn was ok. But the rest of this story is quite poor: i didn't like neither script nor other actors.

The story in itself is nice in a way that it is indeed a modern day Cinderella, and I particularly like how it highlights who are your real friends (genuinely interested in you) and who are not. That earns all the four stars I gave. However, they could do better in the acting department: when Indy goes mad at her aunt and uncle and the scene is supposed to make you emotional but it just makes you laugh because the acting is so poor and it feels like she is just trying to not forget her script or something, no anger shown at all. And her uncle and aunt are the worst ever!!! The whole cast deserves minus 10 stars.

Really loved the movie. Truth be told any I love any Cinderella stories. But did they really need to have her cat killed in the story.

My daughter saw this on Amazon Prime and wanted to watch it. She thought the film was gonna be a sweet take on the Cinderella story and instead we ended up getting this heavy handed public service announcement on child abuse. Then at the end, everything is all better and wrapped up in a cute little package.Look, I've known several people who grew up in abusive families and this film sort of felt like it was making light of the experience. I understand that it's a movie but I don't think drunk people would appreciate a movie about an alcoholic just quitting cold turkey and going "Yep, all better now." It's something that is never fully gone and some days are harder than others. My main complaint isn't even how they handled the message, it's the fact it had a message to handle. When I sit down with my daughter to watch some Cinderella movie, I expect to see just another retelling of Cinderella, not a poorly executed PSA on child abuse.
