Cinema is an integral part of society where we revel upon our form of the art of story telling. Sometimes they speak of stories that make you laugh, cry , feel loved, experience thrill , fear and what not. But with all those plethora of stories there are some which leaves an indelible mark afterwards. "October" is such a story.
This movie is not easy to describe in words , but to sum up all I can say is it's a love-story without a love-story. This movie tells the story of human emotions, attachment to a certain idea of being attached, how a simplest thought of acquaintance can bring two people together in the most delicate way and in the toughest of times.
The actor Varun Dhawan although a starkid, this movie is the most defining moment of his career. This one definitely removes the usual stigma of star-kid tag from him and marks him as a talented actor. He can deliver given the right story.
Shoojit Sircar has again done with with his unconventional direction style and also the cinematography is beautiful. I can't help but mention a particular scene in the movie , the prelude to the climax was the most emotional and a perfect mise en scène for the climax, it will tear you apart from within and will still haunt you even long after the movie.

As you would have expected from the trailer, October is a different kind of movie and is not meant for everyone. However, its even slower than you might think and my biggest issue with the movie is that it doesn't lead you anywhere. Some people might consider the movie poetic. Sadly it doesn't include me.
At best, its a one-time watch and is much better than brainless masala movies that are released so frequently in Bollywood, but surely October isn't a masterpiece.
