everything you have heard about this movie is true.

It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.

at the beginning of the movie, the "degenerates from downstairs" mention that the only virgin they can find is an ll year old boy. the countess immediately grimaces and says, "don't be gross."also, the dance fight scene doesn't take place at a halloween dance. it takes place at a PRE HALLOWEEN BOP. there are signs all over the movie proclaiming it as PRE halloween. during the actual scene, there's a huge sign on stage announcing that all the students are at a PRE halloween bop. you may have missed it.my biggest complaint was the use of fire to hold off the vampires. if the vampires are so deathly afraid of fire, why would they light so many candles and torches all around them? :)

A vampire Countess (Lauren Hutton) needs to drink the blood of a virgin in order to keep her eternal beauty. It seems that all is hopeless, until she bumps into Mark Kendall (Jim Carrey). While "Fright Night" is often considered a modern classic by horror fans, this film -- which came out around the same time -- is probably not as well known. And why not? The humor is decent and a young Jim Carrey (with exquisite dance scene) makes this historically important in some small way.I should say something about the film's treatment of homosexuality. However, I am unsure of what to write. The film seems to have some anti-gay bias (especially with the shower scene), but maybe that is a misunderstanding. Indeed, it might just be presenting what might have been a realistic response from teenage boys in the 1980s...

About the most interesting thing one can say about this movie is that it is a very early movie in the career of Jim Carrey. Other than that there is really nothing all that special about this movie which is not all that bad, just not all that good. The funniest scene in the entire movie for me focused more on the guys playing Jim Carrey's buddies in a very funny shower scene. Other than that most of the jokes are typical and you also have a dance scene that is very painful to watch. The story has an old vampire lady who must feast upon the blood of a virgin to keep her youthful appearance. Apparently, this is a very hard task to do in California (actually I am betting it is very easy, but they are probably saying it is hard as some sort of joke about the sexual promiscuity of those who live in the state). Well the vampires underlings find Jim and figure they have hit the jackpot so goes his slow transition to being a vampire. Like I said I liked some stuff in the movie, other parts I did not care for all that much. The friend's scene hilarious, but most of the jokes only garner a slight chuckle at best. Thankfully Jim Carrey was not based on the merits of this movie alone because he is not even the strongest actor in it. Worth a look, but not worth to many looks afterwards.

Most of us think that Jim Carrey started out in lead roles in "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective". Well, here's an interesting flick from the mid-1980s with the man known for butt-talking getting second billing, and he could easily get top billing. He plays high school student Mark Kendall, who has a one-night fling with a woman (Lauren Hutton) who turns out to be a vampire; she has to keep drinking blood to maintain her youth. And when she drinks Mark's blood, she doesn't bite his neck, if you know what I mean! Overall, "Once Bitten" is nothing special, but it's pretty funny, for what it is. I guess that you just can't go wrong when you mix vampires and comedy. And Lauren Hutton was hot, as always.
