Kattiera Nana I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Lucybespro It is a performances centric movie
Nessieldwi Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
Mischa Redfern I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
gbkmmaurstad Claire (Anne Hathaway) is assigned to counsel five survivors of a commercial airliner crash. Eric (Patrick Wilson) is the most mysterious of all. Some of the survivors claim they heard an explosion, but the airlines representative says there was no such explosion. Eric wants nothing to do with the therapy group, but Claire pursues him to find out why. The why is a intriguing look into the survivors and those left behind. The big question is who are the survivors and who was left behind.
juneebuggy This was an okay movie, with a good cast and decent performances altogether saved by the twist ending. The story idea isn't completely original, -but I can't really say where I've seen it before without giving away the twist-.Its kind of mystery/suspense/romance, following Anne Hathaway as a grief counsellor who deals with plane crash survivors. She finds herself getting deeply involved when her patients start disappearing one by one. Nice charisma between the leads Hathaway and Patrick Wilson, I also enjoyed David Morse and Andre Braugher. What I like about movies with these kinds of twists is that it makes you go back and re-examine the entire film, and the parts that either didn't make sense or were strange are suddenly a bit brilliant. I actually didn't see this one coming until the train sequence although I had had my share of WTH questions up until that point. Worth a watch.Filmed in Vancouver with shots of (Rogers sugar refinery) as somewhere dark and gloomy USA. 9/10/16
blanche-2 ...but I was very affected by this film. It was inspired by another film, but I can't give you the name as it will spoil the movie for you. You'll know if you watch it.Anne Hathaway is Claire, a counselor who is assigned by her boss (Andre Braugher) to help survivors of a plane crash. One of the survivors, Eric, seems not to have been bothered at all, but he makes an appointment to see Claire privately. For the others, she sets up a group therapy session. We see Claire as a dedicated career woman with a nosy neighbor (Dianne Weist), and she seems to be on the outs with her sister, whom she is trying to reach. Eric proves to be problematic. Since the accident, he's become quite the daredevil and encouraging her to be the same way; he shows up at her apartment late at night; and she's falling for him.Less and less people show up to the therapy sessions, and Claire wonders about the man hovering outside during the sessions, who seems to be from the airline. She begins to suspect a conspiracy - he is too interested in peoples' accounts of the crash, which differ from the party line, and she thinks he may have something to do with the passengers disappearing. This is a slow film, but stay with it. It's quite powerful. Anne Hathaway gives a lovely performance as Claire, and Patrick Wilson is effective and likable as Eric, resembling a young Paul Newman.I admit I shed some tears. Don't listen to the twenty-something year-old guys who populate IMDb (unless you're one yourself; then by all means, listen to them). Just enjoy the movie.
TheBlueHairedLawyer Why does this amazing movie have such a low rating? It deserves more than 10/10 stars, but don't watch it expecting something along the lines of Friday the 13th or The Ring because this movie is scary, but not a horror movie (although labeled as such). It reminds me vaguely of The Lovely Bones (2009) and it's just as effective, if not more so.Claire, a grief counselor used to working with children, finds herself waking up to get a phone call from the local hospital. A serious plane crash has occurred down on a beach and very few people survived; Claire's job is not only to help the traumatized victims but also to get to the truth of what happened. Unfortunately Arkin (David Morse) is set on his idea that the pilot made a mistake which caused the accident. Claire also finds herself a little too involved with Erik, a victim of the crash who is surprisingly happy despite the ordeal. The only thing that seems to scare him is the large dog that keeps barking outside his door.As things progress, Claire's patients begin to disappear, all but Erik, which leads her to believe that some sort of conspiracy is going on. The only two people who seem to want to help her aside from Erik, are her boss and her landlady (who later turn out to play a much larger role). Erik sees another man, dressed all in black, who he doesn't recognize. Claire doesn't know what to think anymore until Arkin, looking depressed and extremely guilty, tells her that "the pilot was tired, going through a divorce and leaving the plane in the hands of an inept co-pilot... and as he tearfully leaves, Claire opens the briefcase he has left her and discovers the horrible truth. This movie was beautiful, extremely depressing and sad but still an amazing movie to witness. In fact, it comes across for the first little while as a sappy romance between Eric and Claire, but the story and connections between all the characters is very complex when it all comes together. Eric sees his grandfather (William B. Davis' very brief appearance) and doesn't even recognize him since it was so far back that he died, and the dog outside his door turns out to be not a bad omen, but actually a forgotten friend from childhood. Norman (another victim) believes the airport to be conspiring against the victims in some corporate scandal, but really it's a forgotten relative who has come to help him along. Another victim,Shannon, her dead parents come to find her, and as for Claire, everyone she's seen since the plane crash is her to help her, people she'd forgotten but who made an impact on her life years back.I loved Passengers, it deserves way higher than just a current 5.8/10! With brilliant acting from actors/actresses such as Anne Hathaway (The Cat Returns and Ella Enchanted), Patrick Wilson (Insidious and The Conjuring), David Morse (The Green Mile), William B. Davis (The X-Files, The Killing Moon) and Andre Braugher (The Mist, City of Angels) among other great actors, eerie and beautiful soundtrack and an original plot that really makes you think afterwards unlike most movies these days, Passengers is one I highly recommend and hopefully its ratings will improve.
