If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

When looking for French Thriller titles on Amazon UK,this was the title that always appeared at the top.Planning to buy the DVD,I was pleased to spot that the movie was about to appear on BBC iPlayer, which The plot:Checking the wards after speaking to his pregnant wife Nadia, Samuel Pierret spots a mysterious man running out of a room.Entering the room,Pierret finds the man (who has been left knocked out by a crash) has been taken off his respirator. Quickly putting the respirator back on,Pierret gets the situation under control. Embracing Nadia at home, Samuel and his wife are attacked by some thugs, who knock Samuel out. Waking up on his own,Samuel gets a call from the thugs and is told that if he wants to see Nadia alive again,he must get the knocked out patient out of the hospital.View on the film:Dragged into a murky underworld at point blank range, Gilles Lellouche gives a great performance as Samuel Pierret, whose raw red eyes and leathery face allow Lellouche to give the title a gripping roughness. Waking up dazed and confused, Roschdy Zem glides with the coolness of a Neo-Noir rebel in his magnetic performance as the knocked out stranger Hugo Sartet, with Zem slowly building a level of respect that Startet shares with Samuel, which is joined by Zem giving Sartet an icy bluntness on attacking those who want him out of the hospital.Firing Samuel out of his blue collar life, the screenplay by co- writer/(along with Guillaume Lemans) director Fred Cavayé spins a thrilling Neo-Noir web which pulls excellent, double dealing cops into Samuel and Sartet's loners on the run spree. Despite fading away in for the ending, the writers keep the Neo-Noir anxiety burning away,as Samuel finds himself being tied to Sartet's tough deals.Running with Samuel and Sartet, Cavayé & cinematographer Alain Duplantier keep track with chic Neo-Noir style cast across the screen in rapid-fire whip-pans locating every escape route the guys have. Along with the chase shine, Cavayé gives the gritty shoot-outs and fight scenes a moody darkness cast by dried up colours,as Samuel,Sartet and Nadia try not to reach their grosse pointe blank.

Edge of your seat entertainment and kudos to the actors, director and the team that brought this forward making it look so real. Well done. Plausible story of everyday life and it going about its business until it clashes with your life. Then, the real story begins. What would you do? Mr. minding his business, works hard and has a life and a future is pulled into a happenstance that not only threatens his life but that of his family. This is no super hero, martial arts expert or extra-ordinary person by just looking at him nor is it implied either. However, what comes out of this man who is thrust into a do or die situation makes us join him and join him we do. You may find yourself wanting get up and start running when he does. Edge of your seat at times, tense, gripping and a good story. A real scary moment, without revealing details is made known which is: What do you do when the police are corrupt and your word has to go against them? Another poignant point is having to watch a pregnant woman at risk and harm, who is so vulnerable enduring what no pregnant woman should. The viewers emotions are activated, captured and then taken hostage right along into the movie. The ending doesn't end when you think it will and then we are satisfied. Look for the grin on the mans face at the end. It says it all... along with a question he answered put to him by his wife. Well done! Ah, a entertainment delight. Eat if you want to while watching, but remember to chew your food. Definitely a snack movie too. Why is it that Hollywood cannot get this consistent with their work? Until they do, look to France and others do remind us

I think you should know up front that I am NOT the intended audience for "Point Blank" and my score of 6 might just reflect that. I am not a big fan of violent films nor, especially, do I enjoy films which are non-stop action movies. I am not saying they're bad...but I don't enjoy them. I can respect "Point Blank" but didn't exactly love it...which isn't a huge surprise. I mostly watched it because I enjoy French films. The film begins with a violent chase scene. A man has been shot and then, unexpectedly, get hit by a car. It's almost impossible to imagine a guy surviving this...let along running about like an action hero for most of the film...and that's why I knocked a few points off the movie right off the bat. This just didn't make sense and he was NOT a Terminator!!Anyway, back to the film. While the guy is in intensive care, someone tries to kill him--slicing his respirator hose. Fortunately for him, a nurse's aid discovers this and saves him. As payment for his good deed, some folks knock him senseless and then kidnap his very pregnant wife. Then he gets a message that he must sneak this injured guy out of the hospital...which he does. What follows is a long series of chase scenes, fights, shootings and pretty much everything else they could cram into the film. Again, much of it is done by a guy who only minutes before was in ICU...clinging to life.Perhaps you'll enjoy it. The action is gripping and the film is non-stop. I just thought it sometimes just didn't make a lot of sense.

I'm not a big fan of these kidnapping and pursuit kind of movies, but I gave this one a chance because I like French movies, and then cause I've read some critics talking about a "great script" that supposedly take the movie to a greater level in the action genre. Well, I'm not a writer, but if that's a wonderful script I bet Hemingway would kill himself again, cause it doesn't have anything that wasn't written in Hollywood before by many action scriptwriters. Anyway, the filmmakers are not to blame for that lie, and the action scenes, which are the ones the movie is centered on, has no flaws in execution or acting. The ending is fair with the story and characters, even when it's a little too hard to believe after all that happened. The main characters acting is correct, but I'll give it a 6 because in the big picture the movie lacks originality and nothing really shocking happens besides the frenetic action. It's a nice movie for popcorn and have a good time, but that's all. I'll recommend you "36" with Auteuil and Depardieu, a policier with a much more complex and credible story.
