This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.

While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.

I watched the Canadian indie PRAIRIE DOG under the title FANG. The new title and box art paint it as a werewolf horror movie about the hunt for a bloodthirsty creature that has been roaming the countryside, but on watching it soon becomes apparent that this film is far too tame and family-orientated to convince as a horror flick. It's not really a fantasy film either, and even 'adventure' is pushing it a bit. This is a sunny, outdoors-type film in which the slim narrative is dragged out endlessly. It seems to be a family drama more than anything else, with a lot of time taken up by characters wandering from one place to another just to fill out the running time. The little-seen CGI creature is wisely kept off screen for 99% of the film's length and the acting is generally lacklustre, making the whole thing a rather non-suspenseful exercise.
