It is a performances centric movie

Good concept, poorly executed.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
Yash Wade
Close shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.

Mo' nique should have walked away with every award .... a masterpiece of acting . Sidibe was remarkable as well.... and it was nice to see Mariah Carey put away the glitz and glam to get dirty ... she was excellent. This story was hard to watch... but the acting was superb

Its a very good drama and pretty hard to hold your tears. Great acting and a nice story.Its about a 16 year old girl named Precious living a pretty tough life in Harlem.

Just for starters, please do watch the film.First thought that it is not a movie about black people (like all those movies showcasing about the discrimination shown/was shown to them).The movie is about HUMANS, about the precious people we have around. It is a bold movie, which questions how we treat people, how the media/society have changed our perception of beauty, and how tough is it for girls who have to live a life of "Precious".The acting is amazing, and the technical aspects of shooting dream sequences will remain fresh for a long time.Overall, the movie is too bold to be a Hollywood product. It has that quality and vibe of world cinema

One of the best comedy movies I've ever seen, hands down! I think one of the greatest and funniest scenes is when Ms. Rain, played by Paula Patton, and Ms. Weiss, played by none other than Mariah Carey, enroll Precious in the exclusive diet club/school for girls. When she gets there she wonders why she keeps gaining weight, not knowing that she is pregnant! LMAO!!!!! Being larger-than-life herself already, she didn't notice her belly growing! All the while, being at a "diet school", she was wondering why she kept gaining weight! LOL! Her mother, Mary, is played by Mo'Nique, who really plays the role to a T. Being her usual witty self, she fills the role with sometimes dry and sometimes "in your face" jokes and verbal sleight-of-hand. Mo'Nique just being Mo'Nique, I guess! I hear they are making a squeal, er, I mean, sequel: Precious 2, Light As A Feather. I can't wait!!!!!!!
