Wow! Such a good movie.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Frances Chung
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

Acting is insulting. I love how nonchalant she is from being hit on by her brother in law (no emotion), waking up to the tent being taken out from under her and all supplies stolen (no emotion), hears a gun shot when she's all alone (nothing). I mean, this is either terrible writing or directing... everything about it.... you might need drugs to enjoy this film.

Just because she is maybe 2 weeks pregnant does not mean should could not make it and kill them all. How stupid people are just to complain about her killing them because she is pregnant. Man I am tired of the lame crappy reviews you see on this site.It is better than people say it is on this site. Way too many terrible reviews on this movie and I bet they rate the worst ones higher than this one. Always the way this site is. No way you can trust most of the reviews on this site at all.So what if there are plot holes. Even the better movies have a couple of plot holes. Man I am boggled at how many people are so idiotic. 3 campers go and find out they are hunted down by teenagers and the pregnant women of a husband and his brother are attacked. The women ends up being the one that survives the whole thing. Better than what you see in other reviews. Needed a 10 because the crap you see on this site puts good movies down. Need to see more 10 reviews for it.

I really can't stand it when directors rip-off a foreign film, and think that people won't realize they've ripped it off because the original was a foreign film. In this case, the losers that made this flick ripped off the Spanish movie, "El Rey De La Montana", and just changed the ending and a few plot points so they wouldn't be sued. While they also took some things from other films that have been mentioned, as soon as I saw the reveal scene of the kids shooting at them and texting each other, there was no doubt in my mind that they expected the audience to be shocked that they were kids having fun.If I hadn't seen 'El Rey De La Montana', I probably would have been shocked, but since I did, I just watched it and waited to see if they gave ERDLM some credit at the end. If they had given it some credit, I might have given the movie a higher rating, but since they didn't, I gave it a 1. The only difference is they made a ridiculous 'final girl' ending, where the wife succeeds in killing the three kids, where the military guy and his brother failed. In EDDLM there was a much more realistic ending, which I won't spoil for anyone who hasn't seen that superior film.

Sometimes, the smallest of twists in the most common of stories, can make all the difference. Preservation is nothing you haven't seen before, as it features three hikers who get lost in the woods and are then hunted, while trying to find their way out. The real difference in this film is who is hunting them and why. To me, the scariest horror films are the ones that are believable. The events of this film could really happen and that is more terrifying than any ghost or goblin that Hollywood can create. Aside from the trip to the woods, there is a back story that features the hikers, making them seem all the more real to the audience. Unlike many similar film, the innocent hikers are people the audience will feel like it knows and they feel like people one can relate to. Preservation also features differences from other similar films, in the methods that the hunted use. How many times have you watched a film and said, "these people are stupid, I would never do that in a situation like this!?" In Preservation, they don't make those mistakes, in fact, they pretty much do everything a reasonable person would do. Finally, the cast is almost entirely made up of newcomers and they are truly terrific. Wrenn Schmidt is the kind of common hero that people tend to love, while Cody Saintgnue is the baby face who could do no wrong. At first I thought this film would be just like every other romp through the woods, but it's so much better than that. The film is extremely realistic and very well written, making it one of those independent films that you want to tell all your friends about.
