Linbeymusol Wonderful character development!
Afouotos Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
ChanFamous I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.
Delight Yes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.
dumpsteremail I love the Punisher let me just say that. However the actors that were selected to play in this movie are so terrible. Punisher himself could have been played by literally anyone else. And those cheap fake 'Italian' accents in the beginning of the movie bother the s**t out of me because they are so bad.
Sam smith (sam_smithreview) Just came back from watching the movie and I was definitely pleased. I was a bit worried that I would be let down after reading some of the early reviews, my suspicious about the reviewers not understanding the character were confirmed though.Stevenson is a brilliant Frank Castle, the guy is a tank in this movie, however i do have to say that for me, he is no Tony Jones. shredding through his opposition just like a on screen manifestation of the character should. The critics complaining about the gore prove them unfit in being tasked with stepping anywhere near the film with a pencil and paper, doling out stars or thumbs.the plot other than to say that it was massively inadequate and was there just for the sake of having a plot. The action, albeit good and entertaining, was way over the top, and at many times pointless. Now don't get me wrong, I love a great action flick, but there comes a certain feeling of annoyance when the plot is practically ignored just to have Frank slay a herd of people. In my mind, and I'm pretty sure many of you will agree, the action is supposed to SUPPLEMENT the plot, not the other way around. This movie failed to do that.
adonis98-743-186503 Just saw this movie today after many years and it was awesome i loved it this film was so much better than the 2004 Thomas Jane version of The Punisher. Ray Stevenson was the perfect guy for the job and i liked Jigsaw and his crazy little brother i think everyone did a good job and the enemies were so much better than the fat annoying John Travolta from the previous one. The action and gore reminded me of Marvel's Daredevil and Jessica Jones it was bigger in action and gore than the first film and it had a better story and character development and a good use of humor. This film is nowhere near the mess critics described and the 6.0 out of 10 is pretty low for a film as good as this one and the ending was perfect which meant for a somewhat sequel which i would love to see but i guess we will never find out.
zardoz-13 "Green Street Hooligans" director Lexi Alexander and scenarists Nick Santora, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway neither pull their punches nor rely on discretion in the ultra-violent crime thriller "Punisher: War Zone." Less than ten minutes into the action, our black-clad hero Frank Castle crashes a party at the palatial residence of a big-time, organized crime hood, Gaitano Cesare ( John Dunn-Hill), and he massacres the gangster and his minions without a qualm. At one point, the Punisher (Ray Stevenson if "King Arthur") dangles from a chandelier, spins, and mows down everybody in sight in a hail of gunfire. The R-rated "Punisher: War Zone" was largely a box office flop for its depiction of gory combat. Gangsters are shot, stabbed, and poked in the eye with a variety of objects. Our hero is so tough that he shoves a pencil up his nose, presumably to sharpen his wits before he embarks on his next act of violence against the mob. Everybody wants the Punisher, both the police as well as the mob. Alexander and company waste no time in establishing Frank Castle's willingness to terminate with extreme prejudice, and Dominic West's maniacal mobster villain Billy the Beauty Russoti who adopts the nickname Jigsaw after he falls into a gigantic but gruesome glass recycling machine and has his pretty boy looks ground up beyond recognition. Predictably, the narcissistic gangster is not pleased when he sees what the surgeons have done to repair his face with a little "horse hide." The plastic surgeon who takes off Billy's bandages dies later from a pair of scissors impaled in his forehead. If you're tired of action-thrillers that balk at going the extra mile in orchestrating and showing hardcore violence, "Punisher: War Zone" is your kind of movie. For example, a female police officer gets skewered by a man wielding a sword. The Punisher blasts faces off heads while the camera ogles this bloodthirsty violence. If you're counting, "Punisher: War Zone" is the third "Punisher" epic. Thomas Jane played the vigilante in mainstream 2004 "The Punisher" opposite John Travolta, while Dolph Lundgren played Frank Castle in the first movie "The Punisher." After everybody recovers from the massacre at the family mansion and the death of an undercover policeman in a factory shoot-out, the filmmakers remind us what prompted Castle to embark on his one-man war against the Mafia. The mob killed his wife, Maria Elizabeth Castle, and his two children Lisa Barbara and Frank David Junior back in 2002. Frank visits their graves and polishes the tombstone as he relives a flashback of that tragic day. Specifically, as we learn later from Detective Martin Soap (Dash Mihok), who has shadowed Castle's every step for the last five years, Castle and his family witnessed a mob execution as they were attacked. The death of an undercover FBI agent prompts Agent Paul Budiansky (Colin Salmon of "Tomorrow Never Dies") to join Soap on his one-man task force to find Castle. As it turns out, Budiansky got himself in trouble with narcotics and his partner Nicky Donatelli (Romano Orzari) refuses to inform on him. Consequently, the FBI forced Donatelli to go undercover into the Cesar mob. Naturally, when Budiansky learns about Donatelli's demise at the hands of the Punisher, he wants him.It is difficult to believe that a woman helmed this savage shoot'em up saga, but "Punisher: War Zone" hits bullseye with every shot.
