Masterful Movie

It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film

I was 20 when I saw Raajneeti and Still I'm watching it. Every time I am feeling the same which i felt 8 years back. Thanks Mr. Prakash Jha. This movie just changed my life. I started seeing life in a different way.

Movie: Raajneeti Rating: 1.5/5Watching political drama films is not in my routine list. Thus my review may not appeal to each and everyone. It's true that Prakash Jha is a master at making Political films, but its also true that he faltered to handle such a sensitive subject.Raajneeti is a predictable political revenge saga that has no soul in itself. The positive efforts of the film are overshadowed by damp writing, poor direction, and of course, a very 'political' type of routine screenplay. The film starts off well. Till the interval, many things go well. However, a poorly scripted second half just doesn't impress.Talking of the performances, every actor, except Katrina, gives an immensely powerful performance. Rather, performances are the only redeeming feature of this film. The music is charming, but was however, not just needed at all. The cinematography is excellent. The climax of the film is well scripted. Talking about what's not good in the film, its obvious that a poor writing and characterization kills the film. Although you see Naseeruddin Shah in all posters prominently, you don't get to see him for more than 2 or 3 minutes. Ranbir Kapoor's character is the worst scripted. One is lost in translation, thinking whether his character is positive or negative. There are various moments where you realize that the film's canvas was very big and the subject could have been exploited better. But, the film falls short of all the expectations one makes from this film. But, there are a few scenes, which really deserve praise. The sequences involving Ajay Devgn are simply the best ones. Apart from this, there is nothing you can expect from this film.On the whole, Raajneeti is a film that never takes itself seriously in terms of doing justice to its subject, but does take itself too seriously in terms of being a "Raajneeti" as a bad film. If you like such political revenge sagas, watch it, otherwise, avoid it with no regrets. Heavily disappointing.

A typical political story, revolving around the 'mahabharata' within and outside the Samaajwaadi party in Madhya Pradesh, with party members striving to reach the top against opposition from other members, to the extent of even resorting to crime and involving innocent members of the family. The film gives a clear description of how Indian politics are. All actors have played their parts well, music score is good, there are few thrills that are noteworthy, and the story is shot such that it's hard to say who's right or wrong really. The film is a long one but worth a watch. There's only a club dance song, no other dance numbers. Some dialogues are very different from what you'd expect to find in conventional cinema, like 'jo aasmaan par thukta hai, thuk usi ke muh par aake girta hai' .Worth a watch

Well i saw this movie couple of days ago after hearing a lots of praise and positive comments from my friends so i decided to watch it though i am not a great fan of Bollywood movies but i only watch which i think are worth watching... so i got the DVD and saw on my notebook. well the movie is lengthy approx. 2:30 hrs but to my surprise the movie holds so many twists and dramas to hold my attention that once i started i finished the whole movie in a single stretch. this movie certainly depicts the real politics scenarios of rural India. Though there were rumors in the media before its release that the theme of the movie will be based on Mahabharat but no body had imagined that even based on a somehow similar theme the movie has been able to perform well on commercial aspects and all credit goes to the Director Prakash Jha. Also the stunning performances by the intense Ajay Devgan,Manoj Bajpayee, Nana Patekar. The Director who has also worked previously with Ajay Devgan and Nana Patekar in the Crime Thriller Apharan knows the actors very well and his grasp on the story telling is marvelous. Even Ranbir Kapoor & Katrina Kaif surprised with their performance which shows Jha's ability to get the desired performance from his star cast irrespective of their experience in the industry. The movie also has some hit music which helps in the progress of story.. so overall this is a good movie and i would recommend it to everybody who likes to watch Hindi movies. A great way to enjoy your holiday by watching it at home if you are stuck due to bad weather or you really want to see something refreshing and class one act then this is the right pick for you... in one word ... ENTERTAINING.
