Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.
Quiet Muffin
This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

Ram Balram(1980) was known as the comeback of Amitabh-Dharam jodi after SHOLAY, CHUPKE CHUPKE(1975). In the former films Dharam had the main lead while Big B had the supporting role(as Dharam was a bigger star when both films were being made) but when the film released things got changed. Big B became the numero uno of Bollywood. RAM BALRAM had for once both in equal roles. The story is quite good with Evil Ajit making use of his 2 nephews to become rich, Not entirely convincing though like films of 70s and 80s but yet the film is quite well handled. There are several clapworthy scenes and good dramatic scenes. Amitabh and Dharam's chemistry makes for a good song Ek Rasta Do Raahi where both are seen driving a car, sitting over it and having a joy time, just like Yeh Dosti. The film has all the typical formula of 70s like long lost brothers, sisters and a dead mother who comes back to life and happy endingDirection by Vijay Anand is quite good, he had to face a lot of ego hassles between both the stars notwithstanding. Music by LP is fantastic, Ek Rasta is terrific with Kishore(for Big B) and Rafi's vocals suiting both, Ladki Pasand Ki, Humse Bhool Ho Gayi and other songs are fabDharmendra as usual entertains and does his role very well Amitabh Bachchan is apt in a tailormade role, he has done such roles many times Rekha and Zeenat Aman are the heroines and are good Amongst rest Ajit is suitabily villainy while Amjad Khan, Prem Chopra do well as the villains Helen is good(surprising she played Zeenat's mom when Dharam was 4 years older to her)At The Box Office, the film opened well but finally was declared semi-hit which was disappointing, after this film Amitabh and Dharam never worked again in their haydays, except guest appearances in some films,Dharam in Andha Kanoon for e.g. They re-united recently in Hum Kaun Hai?(2004)

This movie is my all-time favorite movie but i still didn't give it a 10 only because realistically it did average at the box-office and it wasn't as good to most people as was Sholay. The directors tried to recreate another Sholay but most of the audience did not accept it as anywhere close to Sholay. However, I loved the songs and the story had constant action from scene to scene and to me, it had no dull moments at all. I loved this movie more than Sholay and I thought Sholay was a classic. So maybe this might give all of you an insight into how good this movie was. If you guys and gals love the classic Amitabh Bachchan movies and haven't seen this one, then take it from me, this is a classic Amitabh Bachchan movie with all the drama and action that he became famous for. There's no harm in checking it out, if you don't like it, then it's only $1 wasted. If you do, and I'm sure most of you will enjoy it, then maybe you might end up buying it on DVD like i have. Another point, do check out the DVD version of this movie because most VHS tapes will have bad quality. Do check out this movie and you wont be disappointed!!!

Another one of the Dharmendra-Amitabh hit movies with a lot of action packed with good dialogues and comedy. They play the role of orphaned brothers Ram and Balram brought up by a nasty fake Uncle Jaggu. One brother becomes a mechanic and another a police-inspector. They don't know the truth about Jaggu's relationship with them until Jaggu's old girlfriend returns to town. Thrown in-between are some catchy songs 'Ek rasta...do raahi', 'Yaar ki khabar mil gayi..gayi', 'Ladki pasand ki mushkil se milti hai' and 'Balram ne bahut samjaaya'. Amitabh has perform many stunts himself in this film esp. riding the motorbike in the dockyard. A must-see for all Amitabh & Dharmendra fans!

May contain spoiler, but not too sure how much detail is too much.
Ram Balraam is the story about two cousins Ram (Dharmendra) and Balraam (Amitabh) who are closer than most brothers. Being orphaned at a young age, they are raised by their Mama or uncle (Ajit). The mama's purpose is to use the two boys to his own evil ends. He raises Ram as a thief and Balraam as a police officer. When the boys protest he would threaten to harm them. Mama's plan to have Ram do his dirty work and for Balraam to protect him from the law.All is going well until he reveals his plan to the two boys after both have grown up. Unfortunately for the Mama, Balraam has become an honest police office and Ram an unwilling thief. So the brothers put their heads together and try to get out of the mess their in.The rest of the story focuses (or tries to) on how the brothers discover what happened to their parents and avenge them. And as in every hindi movie, there has got to be some romance. In Ram Balraam, this comes in the form of Zeenat Aman (don't recall the name of her character) and Rekha (Shobha) respectively. Ram's romance is quite bland. But Balraam's is entertaining in some spots. The scenes between him and Shobha are quite likely the most entertaining in the film which is quite sad. The only reason for this was the chemistry between Amitabh and Rekha which surfaces in the worst of situations. The film might not have so bad as I have made it out to be. It's just that i've seen the same sort of story many times before. And it hasn't even been treated in a different way. Same dialogues, same songs, same faces, same evil guys, you get the picture.Music is not at all notable. Thats why cannot remember any of the songs. Seriously!Performances are quite disappointing. Dharmendra is getting old and looks very bored with the film himself. Amitabh is good, although I like his comedy much better than his drama. The girls are girls. All they have to do is sing and dance around trees. Rekha is the better deal of the two. She is, as always charming, funny and sweet. Her facial expressions are a delight to watch. She can never disappoint, not me at least, except maybe in her choice of this film. The most entertaining thing in the whole movie has to be everyone calling Balraam, Ballu. Everytime i heard that i was rolling on the floor. For some reason. I guess it was only because Amitabh is so tall and big and he is...Ballu (hilarious!)Anyway, overall very average. Wouldn't say I recommend it but if your really bored one night and have watched every thing else in the video store then Ram Balraam might be a decent passtime.
