Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Rio Hayward
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

Resolution is an independent horror movie with supernatural elements. It transcends various genre tropes and portrays a look into the inner fabric of horror narratives, exposing the viewer's voyeuristic tendencies regarding the fate of the onscreen characters. It does so with a very modest budget - however, the drawbacks regarding actor's performances and the technical production never compromise the movie's suspenseful mystery. The ending might be polarizing, however, it also makes the movie open for discussion, which is more than one can say about most horror movies.Overall 7/10 Full review on movie-discourse.blogspot.de

Nothing happened. There was no horror, nothing scary, just some weirdness like a bad acid trip with some weak acid. The lead actors were excellent and the set made me expect some scary stuff to occur. I am still waiting. Sure, I like to support Indie film makers. When they put out this kind of nonsense my support goes out the window. What a waste of resources. There was a ton of promise at the beginning. Then the film bogged down in cinematic mud. It stayed there. This is a movie for which I'd have wanted my money refunded in a theater. The writers showed me some promise. But I need more than a promise of something good to come. I want to see a good movie.

Oddly enough, Resolution might be the least 'horror-esque' movie I have seen in a very long time, it's labeled by many as a horror movie but I think the mystery/drama genre would suit it better. But whatever genre you want to label it under one thing is for sure, it's meta. At first the movie seems like a slow drama about two friends rekindling their friendship, but then the movie slowly starts transitioning into a surreal nightmare where nothing is what it seems.Resolution works because the two characters in the movie are extremely likable (not the mention the acting between the two being fantastic). This is the main storyline, one friend helping another get past his drug addiction with nothing but brute force. But at the same time Resolution slowly rolls out another more 'meta' storyline that slowly builds alongside the main narrative. As the movie progresses, the horror-esque story line gets larger & larger and much creepier, to the point where it takes over as the main story. Once this happens, the movie moves into the horror genre and things start to get very weird very fast. It's this process of building two stories together that makes Resolution so original and engrossing. We start out with the story that sucks the viewer in with its warm-hearted intentions and then starts to throw us curveballs with its more cryptic storyline which allows the tension to rise and paranoia set in. Everything in Resolution works, the comedy hits, the friendship is authentic, it's unpredictable in the best possible way and the movie leaves you with a lasting thought. If you're someone who enjoys a good mystery with a dash of horror, Resolution is something you should seek out!

Okay first of all for the people that call this a horror movie or even a thriller you're completely wrong. There is absolutely nothing in this movie that could be qualified as horror or thriller. It's just a mystery and after the end it just stays a mystery. The actors were not bad, but the story is just too long without anything really happening. If at least they would explain something at the end then I would consider to give a better rating but with this ending I think a five star rating is more then enough. I really don't get why people make movies like this one without a proper ending. What's the point of that? Nobody benefits from it. It's just a waste of time. Give me a million dollar budget and I will give you a proper story with a proper ending.
