Excellent, smart action film.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

Never mind the naysayers, the character dynamics, the pacing and the direction are fantastic, not to mention story, dialogue and a whole bunch more. Ha ha ha! Who wrote this stuff?

Ice Cube and Kevin Hart team up again in another annoying cop and detective film that has action and some curves. You can never be quite sure what will come out of Kevin Harts mouth but you can be sure that it will create mayhem. In this movie he even gets hitched to Ice Cubes sister which is his bonus for the second round of this one.The plot centers around the upcoming wedding, and a mission to bring down a bad guy whose peddling guns, and drugs, and whatever he can peddle illegally. There is a calm little guy who looks like an Aian computer nerd who is trying to help catch the bad guy. I am not sure how well the formula for this movie will keep working, but I see Ride Along 3 is already being made.Cube and Hart actually have a formula as a comedy team that is like many past teams in comedy movies. It works pretty well as Ice Cubes straight man is a very good foil for Kevin Harts antics. Like other comedy duos, their films are not perfect, but if you enjoy the folks working together they always give the audience entertainment. That is the bottom line here.

Ice Cube for some reason can't take his sunglasses off and there is probably only 15 - 20 minutes in the movie where he is not wearing them. Daytime, night time, indoors, in a police station, in the club, etc. Did Ice Cube have pink eye? Did he have a black eye? Or did he just refuse to take them off because he didn't really want to do this sequel and he didn't want us to see it was him? Can't blame him for wanting to hide his face cause if you've seen any buddy cop movie ever, then you've really already seen this movie. Over acting Kevin Heart and the too cool for Ride Along 2 Ice Cube will make you fight not to fall asleep.

I didn't think a great deal of the first "Ride Along" movie, though I will admit it did have a few slightly amusing gags as well as appealing performances by Ice Cube and Kevin Hart. However, what helped to make the first movie watchable is almost entirely missing in this sequel. Although Ice Cube does manage to be fairly likable once again, Kevin Hart this time around manages to be extremely annoying for the most part. In fairness to Hart, much of this blame for this falls to how director Tim Story and the screenplay force him to act rather than due to his acting skills. Speaking of the screenplay, the story once again is pretty predictable; I guessed a lot what would happen long before it actually did. That wouldn't have been a problem had the movie been funny, but it really isn't. While there are a few minor amusing moments here and there, the majority of the humor is tired and very familiar; you'll have seen much of it before in other comedies. With both the story and the humor being so predictable, this sequel offers essentially nothing new to viewers.
