For the past two years, high-school security guard Ben has been trying to show decorated APD detective James that he's more than just a video-game junkie who's unworthy of James' sister, Angela. When Ben finally gets accepted into the academy, he thinks he's earned the seasoned policeman's respect and asks for his blessing to marry Angela. Knowing that a ride along will demonstrate if Ben has what it takes to take care of his sister, James invites him on a shift designed to scare the hell out of the trainee. But when the wild night leads them to the most notorious criminal in the city, James will find that his new partner's rapid-fire mouth is just as dangerous as the bullets speeding at it.

Huievest Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
Ava-Grace Willis Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
Ella-May O'Brien Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
Skyler Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
Michael Ledo Ben "The Black Hammer" Barber (Kevin Hart) is living with Angela (Tika Sumpter) the sister of super cop James Payton (Ice Cube). Ben works as a school security guard and aspires to be a policeman like James. Ben plays video games and is not highly thought of by James. When Ben asks James permission to marry his sister, James wants Ben to prove himself by going on a "ride along." While James puts Ben through the comedy ringer, he is looking for the elusive Omar (Laurence Fishburne), a major crime boss in the city. The plot was fairly simple and didn't develop the complexity or irony I was hoping for, i.e. Omar being part of Ben's on-line gamers. The comedy was akin to skit comedy with scenes being almost unrelated and the comedy of one scene not building on another. Of course one shouldn't expect too much from the guy who brought us "Employee of the Month."The movie is a good popcorn film good for a few laughs.
merelyaninnuendo Ride AlongIf not for Kevin the movie is flat out exhausting, predictable and mundane no matter how much they attempt to project it in a special or unique way.
hoxjennifer I'm starting to become a real Kevin Hart fan. After watching Get Hard, and now Ride Along, I'm starting to see what the hype is about him. He is just plain hilarious, doesn't take himself too seriously and his range of facial expressions and the energy he brings to the characters he plays is just fantastic. In this movie, he plays Ben, a high school security guard who dreams of one day becoming a cop. He plans to marry his long term girlfriend, Angela, and to do this, he needs a blessing from her brother, James (Ice Cube), who happens to be a detective in the Atlanta PD. The stern James, who is overprotective of his sister (successfully breaking into her house more than once in the movie!), heavily dislikes Ben, who he doesn't take seriously. Wanting to get rid of him, he decides to take him a police ride-along to show him what it's really like to be a cop... hilarity and ridiculous situations ensue.Somewhat original idea for a plot, some half-assed writing with obvious plot holes and ridiculous situations that are hardly believable, but the Kevin Hart steals the show. He is hilarious. Paired with the tough and serious Ice Cube, they make a truly dynamic duo. Ride Along is hilarious. Not the best comedy movie I've ever seen, but still a good laugh nonetheless.
Floated2 Ride Along begins with a shootout and car chase action sequence undermined first by ineptly utilized slow motion shots that blunt the narrative momentum, then second by confusing flash edits cut so quick, you can't always tell who's shooting at whom and where everyone actually is in relation to everyone else.Ben (Kevin Hart) wants to be a cop on the Atlanta P.D. So when he's accepted into the police training academy, James (Ice Cube) concocts his own test of manhood guaranteed to prove the immature Ben to be unworthy of his sister.James takes Ben on a ride along for his shift, only James rigs the calls so that he and Ben will be sent on the "26s," cop code for crazy people in nutty situations. Apparently, Atlanta P.D. doesn't worry about liability issues when it comes to sending civilians along with cops on potentially dangerous calls.
