SparkMore n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.

mraculeated The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

Quiet Muffin This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

Allissa .Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

While scouting locations, Thomas accidentally stumbled upon a mafia owned bar and realized, there's a whole lot of money there and not much protection. For the next year, the duo ripped off the mob without consequence, until they took something that made them both the biggest targets in New York. This is another unbelievably true story, that has been brought to the big screen and the public eye, because of our on-going fascination with organized crime. Mafia movies do so well at the box office, that writers are scrambling to find any story they can turn into a film and it's the audience that has benefited the most. Some people say these movies glorify crime, and maybe they do, but to me, anything Mafia related is just fascinating. Watching these films and hearing these stories, you think how could that have happened? Then you go to Wikipedia and find out it's all true! Rob The Mob is the latest in a bunch of these little known Mafia stories to hit the big screen and it does not disappoint. Who plays a Mafia don better than Andy Garcia? Add to that the intense, Michael Pitt, straight off a successful run in Boardwalk Empire, and you have the makings of a terrific cast. The bottom line, Rob The Mob isn't Goodfellas, but it's a hell of a story, with a cast that's experienced in these types of films. It's pretty much what you'd expect from a Mafia movie, but if your like me, that doesn't matter much, it's the story and personalities that you're really interested in.

kosmasp And by saying you're good, you're probably better than any of the characters involved. It's one of those things that "real-life" stories have issues with. It's tough to find anyone sympathetic in this one. Characters seem to be on the wrong side most of the times (at least those shown here).While I wasn't familiar of the story itself and there might have been a couple of changes to make it more interesting for the general viewing public, this still has some very tough things to say. And as another reviewer already mentioned, do not think or put this near any Scorsese movies. The actors have a great time and it's nice seeing some of them, even if you could argue some are pigeonholed.

mingsphinx This movie did not get much screen time and no publicity and so very few people have heard of it. But it is actually a true story. There were these two whack jobs who robbed and humiliated the mafiosi at their recreational clubs. As to be expected, it does not end well for the intrepid pair. How and why anyone would decide to do something as harebrained as hitting on some of the most dangerous felons in the world is a story worth telling and watching.The performances were decent. It was evident that everyone involved in this project thought that it was a movie worth their time and effort.Pick it up if you want something off beat and different.

asc85 This film is by no means Oscar material, but it is very entertaining, and I'm surprised that it was barely released out to theaters before going onto DVD. If this wasn't based on a true story, it would be unbelievable, but since this did really happen in 1992 (I'm sure there are embellishments in the film, of course), it really is an amazing story. I didn't care much for Michael Pitt as one of the robbers, but his girlfriend/fiancée, played my Nina Arianda does a great job. Also excellent in supporting roles are Griffin Dunne, Andy Garcia, and shockingly, Ray Romano as a newspaper columnist. This film is very "New York" in style, attitude, and accent, so maybe that was a turnoff to some people. But not to me.
