Details

Stand-up comedian Robert Newman gets to grips with the wars and politics of the last hundred years, from WWI through to the 2003 invasion of Iraq; but rather than adhering to the history we were fed at school, this show places oil centre stage as the cause of all commotion. This innovative history programme is based around Robert Newman's stand-up act and supported by resourceful archive sequences and stills with satirical impersonations of historical figures from Mayan priests to Archduke Ferdinand.

Connianatu How wonderful it is to see this fine actress carry a film and carry it so beautifully.
Ketrivie It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Zandra The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
mark-evison It constantly amazes me how no-one in the mainstream media mentions the true reason for the wars the West fights, so it was a revelation when Rob shouted out.Even supposedly 'liberal' and otherwise intelligent media types always always skate around the issue... are they just scared of not waking up in some woods one day if they dare mention the unmentionable? Have you seen the film 'Festen'? It reminds me very much of that attitude of not speaking, as well as thoughts of 'thought crime'.I think this is a great piece of documentary: Well-researched, historically factual, with more depth, truth and knowledge than you'll ever get from the news.Watch it, and judge for yourself - then judge the leaders.
