Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

One of those movie experiences that is so good it makes you realize you've been grading everything else on a curve.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

The only positive thing I can say about RoboCop 2 is that its special effects are good. The rest of the movie is just sadistic trash. It has (almost) every horrific thing imaginable. Everything from men pointing guns at babies, prostitutes stomping people in the eye with high heels, people getting cut open up while they're still alive, removal of brains, mass killing of innocent people, killing of children, foul-mouthed children, women getting their necks broken by mechanical drug addicts...it's a sick and nihilistic piece of trash, a truly evil movie, comparable to Death Wish 2, The Hills Have Eyes (remake) or Doberman. I didn't like the first one, but at least that one had something to say.(Zero stars)

Irvin Kershner, who also directed probably the best Star Wars film "The Empire Strikes Back", does homage to Verhoeven's directorial style in this first sequel. Apparently Frank Miller wrote the original script, but Kershner didn't use much of it, but Miller hung around anyway. We see many of the original actors return, especially in the OCP offices. The Newsbreak anchors. Also, many new faces. Who cast this? It is a veritable assembly of character actors who had been in "Star Trek: The Next Generation". The Kid from the opening Robo Drug Bust scene, "Hob" (Gabriel Damon) who taunts Robo, played opposite Michael Dorn in "The Bonding". Mark Rolston who was also in 'Aliens", was in "Eye of the Beholder" and also one episode of Star Trek Continues. Stephen Lee "Duffy" was the target of an Alien Assasin in "The Vengeance Factor". Jeff McCarthy was "Roga Danar", a supersoldier who Troi befriends. Maybe there are more TNG Alumni. Most likely, these are the actors Central Casting used back in 1990 when this was made, and we can virtually date when a film of series was made simply by the guest stars and extras.Tom Noonan, from "Manhunter", is "Cain", a guy who makes Dope that makes Dope look like a weenie roast, and he's nasty. Noonan always plays great crooks, and he eventually becomes something worse for the final act of this film. But what boggles me is that as sequels go, this isn't that bad, although not quite as good as the original. From the start is has some of the same elements that made RoboCop great. But you never know what's going to be a hit or not. This film has much of the look and feel of RoboCop, but for some reason it didn't go over. Of course there are plenty of problems and weak spots, but it is interesting to watch this in relation to the Original RoboCop and the reboot RoboCop from 2014.Again, most of this was practical effects, but in 1990 some primitive CGI was used here. If you don't get caught up in the problems with this film, it does become part of the 3-film Robo story, concluded in Robo 3 with a different actor than Weller.

This sequels has clearly not the punch of Verhoeven's original ! Right from the start, you can feel that the franchise gets down from anticipation-philosophical-tragic-acid movie to simple fun, action-packed one ! By chance, the production is skilled and experimented so you can watch the movie : Kershner and Tippet really put Robocop on spotlight, Bauer is a memorable shrink but at the end, the big disappointment is the star of comics, Frank Miller who wrote a story that is just too similar with the original : so Miller wrote about an OCP ambitious corporate who wants to be number 2 with a new Robocop project: already told in 1987 ! He wrote also about a gang leader whose hideout is a derelict factory : already told in 1987 ! We have Robocop making an assault in a drug laboratory : already told in 1987! We have a street exploded by criminality: already told in 1987 ! we have Robocop going into the leader hide-out and being badly wounded and later coming back and arresting him : already told in 1987 ! At last, the finale is Robocop battling the other OCP robot in an OCP building and that was already the ending in 1987 ! So it's really hard to find the creativity of Miller here, especially when he later wrote the excellent Robocop / Terminator story ! Things gets really bad when this gang leader is played ridiculously with a stupid bunch as well (a teen, a sort of Elvis, a sort of Elektra !) So it's a disappointing sequel and honestly, this blue metallic Robocop is a bit too much too and we miss greatly Poledouris!

Cyborg law enforcer RoboCop protects the citizens of Detroit by taking on a powerful drug syndicate, while a renegade OCP executive tries to create a new, superior RoboCop using a crime lord as its subject. I know a lot of people that like Robocop 2 and i'm OK with that it's your opinion that's good but i have seen videos of people saying that Robocop II is better than the remake but they have also rated it higher than movies such as BVS, Terminator 3 and Terminator Genisys. Let me start with the good things the cast is great you have Peter Weller back as Murphy and Nancy Allen as Lewis the Old man also returns and turns out to be the villain, the suit of Robocop is blue instead of grey which is fine and the soundtrack is different which is pretty fine too the movie came out on 1990 and it was directed by Irvin Kershner who directed Empire Strikes Back the best Star Wars movie and Never Say Never Again starring Sean Connery as James Bond and that is what makes me wonder why this film is in the same league as Batman Forever and Iron Man 2 movies that they were alright but overall disappointing. RoboCop 2 has one of the worst humor i have ever found in a movie he basically turns all sunshine and rainbows and he says stupid lines as "Good Morning" and he shoots a guy because he was smoking without killing him of course then every child in this film is either mean or a gangster which brings me to the worst part of the film which is the child that is annoying and when it dies we need to feel bad about it, Hob and Angie are probably the 2 most annoying characters from the film besides the dumb humor and the over the top action like Murphy riding a motorcycle or even the crazy amount of stop motion that makes the film look even worse. The acting isn't that bad or even the direction is just that the film tries to be more funny and satirical than the Original and it fails in every sense of the way cause the first movie was directed by Paul Verhoven which also directed Total Recall that same year and it was way better than this film. Robocop 2 is not as bad as some people make it out to be it's just that it feels so long and has so many plot devices in it that it feels like you're watching 2 movies at 1 and it's boring especially when it tries to mix the humor and the action but it's not a bad movie it's not a great one either but it's a watchable disappointing sequel and i feel that if you cut the moments with the TV ads and the humor and make it a little bit like let's say Batman Returns it would be amazing. Plus James Cameron directed Terminator 2 one year after this film also featuring a little punk kid and wasn't as violent as this kid was in Robocop 2 sure he was annoying but at least you could feel something about John instead of Hob i'm going to give RoboCop 2 a 7.5 out of 10 and a B-
