What starts off as a typical day on the streets of Seattle soon becomes a terrifying bloodbath, when a great white shark devours an alien space probe…and ROBOSHARK is born. Beulah Bram A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
Jenni Devyn Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.
djfireatwork87 You know I watched this movie and I was just floored by how well it was done considering that a movie like this hasn't been made or done before it's pretty impressive to see it on the full screen. Not many people seem to care about the movie in general they all think its crap and a waste of people's time to watch it.. My advice is if you don't like it why don't you go out and make your own movie or something instead of bashing or criticizing someone else's work?SyFy movies have done and released some exceptional B-movies and they will continue to do so... Just like The Asylum will continue to make mockbusters and will never ever lose any money or sleep on how well their movie did.I give this movie the full 10/10 just for the creative aspect. One scene was a very sad moment where you could see how sad the shark was.. Me and my wife love that scene... Well done SyFy... Hope to see a sequel soon
Mike_Noga The plot is pretty simple. A shark, out minding its own business, bites an alien ship and morphs into a shark/robot hybrid that then attempts to destroy Seattle.Roboshark is a family friendly version of the Scyfy ( however they're spelling it now) Monster movie. it has some blood and some people, obviously, are eaten alive by the Roboshark but it's pretty tame. And it's funny. There is plenty of quick, throw-away humor, some subtle and some not so subtle. There's a little eye candy and a touch of suspense. They poke a little fun at Bill Gates. If you are a film buff, you can try and catch the dozen or so movies that are referenced here. The script is peppered with light satire. Basically it has a little something for everyone.Produced by a Bulgarian film company ( BUFO) you can see some store signs sporting the Russian alphabet in some long shots. It's got a relaxed, fun vibe to it. I bet the cast and crew had a good time making it. It's a nice choice for Movie Night for any family with kids maybe 5-ish or over, although for a 5 year old it would skirt the edge of being fairly scary.
Peter John Fudpucker Right away I knew that when you cast, Nigel Barber (Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!) into any movie, you are shooting for another campy movie success. What SyFy does lately is push out this camp more than ever. What SyFy failed to remember is what really made "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! (1978)" successful... Elvia (Cassandra Peterson) who hosted the movie on her late night TV show back in the day.No one is going to sit and yuck it up at those movies without some late night horror host rifting on it. We watched the campy movies because of Elvira's "Movie Macabre", Joel Hodgson's "Mystery Science Theater 3000", Count Gore de Vol, or Karlos Borloff. This made the campy horror sci-fi movie watchable.SyFy needs STOP cranking out the camp. They use to have a lot better programming on in the late 1990s. Remember series like Farscape, The Invisible Man, Battlestar Galactica, Good vs. Evil, and Eureka? Their movies were also about space and fantasy. Every now and then SyFy network CEO comes along with a new bright idea and we get only the one flavor. The network has these bad phases. Let's do nothing but ghost busting reality TV! Oh great idea...This movie is the product of a company who thinks, if one campy shark movie is deemed a success, more will be a gold rush.
Diane Ruth From the thundering opening scenes to the shattering climax staged incredibly on the Space Needle, this will grab you and not let go. Brilliantly clever and delightfully self-aware SyFy production that is nothing less than breathlessly exciting and uproariously funny. The hilarity is as non-stop as the thrills when a shark bites into an alien entity and becomes the expression the alien itself. Taking on the essential being of the alien, roboshark emerges and threatens to destroy Seattle. A superb script and inspired direction makes this one of the SyFy channel's most spectacular "creature features." Surprises abound and none will be spoiled here (but a fabulous performance by Steve Sires as a famous personality is utterly stunning.) Nigel Barber will have audiences on the floor in the role of The Admiral. The special effects are the usual SyFy brand of awful but are absolutely perfect for this particular exercise in satire and offbeat humor. It's hard to believe that Sharknado achieved cult status when something this wonderful seems to have been missed! Do not miss the ending sequence on the Space Needle itself!
