everything you have heard about this movie is true.

It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Well, it's not as easy as it seems. First you need a good story. To spoil. Then you need a miscast. Forgettable, in every way, the guy in the main role, who's supposed to be a tough roller-ball player.Director misses the point all the time. Here, an accent should be on a metaphor for totalitarian society, benumbed with all the luxuries of the world, convinced that each individualistic attempt is doomed from the start. Here we have a different case - a metaphor, a pure object, a motive became a story itself. With none of 1960's, 1970's, politically awake attitudes, everything became cheap fun or even cheaper boredom. An interesting datum: a character nicknamed ,,The Assassin''(a Russian) speaks somewhat fluent serbocroatian ,,Ostavi to, ti budalo'' /Live that, you fool/ (in Russian a fool is said ,,durak''), so as the central Asian, Caucasian miner (at least he understands it)at the end of movie. The same miner works at the same time in Kazakhstan and Mongolia. Also, if you never knew - central and east Asia are inhabited with loads of African Americans. And America's everywhere.

There was me thinking John McTiernan knew what he was up to.This film is a mess. The story is familiar and clichéd but, even so, the telling of it is muddled.Rollerball itself, potentially exciting, is hopelessly confusing and pointless. The script is slightly less useful than waste paper.Rebecca Romijn-Stamos looks good.Chris Klein, looking very like Keanu Reeves, proves to be a good deal less expressive. The lad has shown himself to be tolerable in an ensemble piece, but he can't carry an action movie on his own due to a complete absence of charisma.Poor.

This film looked like a cheap remake, but i was quite surprised. All the actors put in good performance, and the story is quite interesting. People who like gory violent films will find this film amazing. The whole idea of a sport where people are deliberately hurt or killed to make the ratings higher is interesting. The love interest between Jonathan (Chris Klein)and Arora (Rebecca Romijn - Stamos) makes the film just a little bit more fun. There are no boring bits in this film, there is always something happening which will catch your attention.Overall this film is a good film to watch when there is nothing on TV, or if you like violent sport films.

because it's missing something. The biggest flaw is Chris Klein, he is the most bland actor that I have ever seen. How does a pretty boy like him survive in a bloody, winner take all game like Rollerball? More than that, he doesn't have the charisma to lead a movie. Adding to the problem is that there isn't enough going on in this movie aside from distracting night vision scenes. There isn't any of the social commentary that the original had or the tense action scenes, it fails on both fronts. The only solace is some of the cast: Jean Reno, Ice Cube, and Rebecca Romijn. Ice Cube would have made a better lead and a much more believable Rollerballer with his body. But, as is, This is mess that is best forgotten.
