Spectacula This is an amorous glamorous movie starring Arjun Rampal (Kabir), Ranbir Kapoor (Roy), Mandana Karimi (Pia), Shibani Dandekar (Zoya) and Jacqueline Fernandez in dual role as Ayesha/Tia. Cyrus Broacha, Rajit Kapoor (Detective Wadia), Anupam Kher, Barun Chanda and Shernaz Patel (Meera) play supporting roles. Background score and the songs are catchy. Dialogues are well-written. Cinematography is resplendent. Screenplay could have been better. Acting is commendable. Overall there's a sedative effect. See it to the end to form an opinion about this film. The thing is: Arjun Rampal portrays the writer-director Vikramjit Singh himself. Arjun is Vikam's projection on screen while Roy is Kabir's projection on reel. This is the crux.I don't get it why this film has such low IMDb rating. It should be above 7. As a bollywood flick, this flick is far better than many other flicks. Pair this movie with Inkaar (2013) to gain a better experience.
bakwas-duniya How is a story conceived? First, the germ is planted. A tiny minuscule seed implanted into our brain and then fed and nourished into a compact story with details from reality. The trigger may be a dream, or an incident or a suppressed memory that the brain wants to heave but the residual has to be what we want it to look like. Despite Roy's devil-may-care attitude we do not fail to notice a kind of melancholia in his demeanor. He constantly talks about fleeing to some other place materializing Kabir's innermost conflicts with dealing with life's realities. The movie might be a little confusing because the indications of segregating reality from vision is minimal. Roy and Tia become the physical manifestations of the creative minds that Kabir and Ayesha has. In a way the movie is a realistic fairy tale of a union of minds, which is by far the best kind of marriage ever. The movie jumps between reality and a Kabir's vision. It is as if he is in a Trans-pseudo- reality sort of mind, where reality and his vision for the movie blend. This movie is all about escaping reality and coming face to face with one's own weakness. This movie is about letting go and accept heartbreak with open arms. This movie is also about merging reality with vision to create art. Little snippets of reality make huge leaps in imagination. It's also about making peace with the past and accepting that co-incidences are just possibilities thrown in to take a different course in life.
theheartthrob007 I have seen few movies like Yaadein, Trimurti, Mr Joe Bhi Karwa Lo, Main aur Mrs Khanna etc. But Roy is a standout among this elite list of movies. Trailer was suggesting that there is some mystery, thrill in the backdrop of the movie. But leave backdrop it was nowhere present. Except some really good songs this movie will not provide you anything else. Most surprising thing about the movie was Ranbir Kapoor. How can he choose such a boring and complex subject for his fans to watch out. Arjun rampal:- Here is a man who has never done justice to his terrific looks and awesome physique. Sheer wastage of a God Gift. Had this movie comprises of only songs and no story it would have done better business then normal course.
TheJohnnyMango A staggeringly poor film. Every single moment is dull and lifeless. The acting is beyond wooden, the script nonsensical and the cinematography, which has received some praise, is nothing special. Rampal and Fernandez look nice, but cannot carry a film - scenes between the two of them lack any spark. The characters are silly and do not resemble real people in any way. I cannot think of a single scene or moment that was in any way interesting. It's desperate to be cool and mysterious, but it's actually crushingly stupid. The lack of even unintentional laughs or entertainment make it one of the least enjoyable films I've ever seen.
