Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

Safety Not Guaranteed is not a laugh-out-loud comedy, but it is an amusing comedy. Aubrey Plaza plays herself with a twist of emotion and Mark Duplass gives a very convincing performance as an amiable crazy person. This movie has heart, it has quirk, it has cheese and it appropriately balances the three. Some may be put off by the strangeness of it all, but that's just the government implant in your brain talking.

Darius is chosen along with Arnau to help Jeff write a story in their magazine about a suspicious guy who posted a wanted partner ad regarding nothing less than time travel. They must travel to his location, earn his trust and see where this whole masquerade will get them. Darius manages to get in touch but before the big unveiling of the time machine, she must help the mystery man "borrow" a few missing parts while government agents were closely watching their every move. As expected, the two become close friends but their journey will provide some barriers along the way, where trust will prove to be decisive. It's an interesting story, based on an interesting idea with an unexpected finale. It was enjoyable most of the time, with the imminent boring moments, but it had a tendency to deviate from the main story with uninteresting and sometimes pointless events. I know that it tried to keep the suspense but it seemed more like a lack of ideas rather than a fact done on purpose. As I mentioned above, trust plays a big role in the main characters' relationship but this very trust brought a few doubts of my own regarding their way of perceiving one another (as serious lies made their way into the action). I was pleasantly surprised by its finale which really took me by surprise and thus improving the last impression this film left me.

Darius works as an intern at the office of Seattle Magazine. An unusual newspaper ad got Reporter Jeff's attention and he decided to follow up the story. Jeff heads to investigate along with two interns Arnau and Darius.Basically, This ad has appeared in a real newspaper and it was featured on Jay Leno's The Tonight Show. The only question that drives the movie is whether the time machine news is real or not?. If you are searching for a science fiction movie kind of stuffs, You are looking at the wrong place. Overall, it may not be a great movie, but it's a nice enjoyable flick.

The source material for this film is a well-known newspaper advertisement. They could have just run with that, making it about a guy who wants to time travel and his life and regrets but they did not stop there. The story is science fiction, fantasy and real-relationship. This little film is crafted with wonderful story line, dialog, plot. It brilliantly handles very complex themes involving the past and regret. However, the film is not just about going back and changing something in your past. It is mostly about the power of love to heal emotional wounds. There is a message about past loves, new loves, and employment.
