Tom's day at the beach doesn't start out well. First he gets his swimsuit caught in the door of the beach house, and doesn't realize it until his intended dive in the ocean sends him snapping back and crashing through the door. He runs out and tries again. This time he is so determined to jump in the water that when he does so, he doesn't notice the tide is out and that he is swimming in the sand, which is filled with broken bottles, tin cans and other debris. Later, he tries to win over a beautiful girl on the beach, but, being the boor he is, he annoys her by drinking her soda pop, eating her hot dog and munching loudly as he lays his head in her lap. Suddenly, a tomato flies through the air and lands on his head. So does a banana peel. Tom looks for the culprit and finds him in the girl's picnic basket. Jerry is inside, eating what he wants and tossing out the rest...

GazerRise Fantastic!
ThedevilChoose When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
Calum Hutton It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...
Cissy Évelyne It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
mrapple-06690 This is a fairly decent Tom and Jerry cartoon. the setting is good and is creative with the female, crab, bathing suits, gags etc. Tom eating a clam and consuming sand make for a good laugh, as well as tom's attempts at impressing the girl. The ending with the beach toy and tom's flying trip was a great way to exit the cartoon. The only negative I have however is that I feel the first chase scene, where the crab attacks tom and then he gets himself stuck in a brolly, is completely filler and unnecessary. when jerry was seen tossing out food it should've cut straight to tom slamming the bottle cap over his head. Though with the first chase we did see the crab in action and poor tom all closed up inside the parasol. Fairly decent cartoon, not too bad and not too great either. 6/10
BA_Harrison Tom is spending a day at the beach, and is out to impress the sexy white cat who is sunbathing nearby. Mischievous Jerry, however, is determined to scupper Tom's plans.I love it when Tom and Jerry get away from their usual domestic setting to cause havoc somewhere new, and the seaside proves to be the ideal locale for plenty of inventive mayhem and violent hi-jinx: the cat and mouse get in trouble with a cantankerous crab, who is keen to use his pincers on the duo whenever possible; Jerry gets Tom to swallow sand, break his teeth on a shell sandwich, and leap head first onto a wooden post (which the cat is tricked into thinking is a drowning woman); Jerry is launched from a soda bottle into the sea; and Tom swallows an inflatable horse.
Shawn Watson Tom is spending the day at the seaside with his girlfriend and is trying hard to impress her, as usual. But Jerry has stowed away inside the picnic basket and does everything he can to torment him while scoffing the food for himself. You might find this cartoon very, very similar to the more popular Muscle Beach Tom from the 1950s. But this one came first. There are some very funny painful tricks played on Tom, but they do get a little tiresome after a while. But most of them work. Highlights include Tom drinking some very sandy tea and chewing his own broken teeth. How this is physically possible I don't know. But it's funny.
movieman_kev Probably one of the most memorable Tom and Jerry animated shorts, has Tom the cat hopelessly smitten with his love interest at a day at the beach. Jerry the mouse, with the help of a crab (in the crab's defense he hates Jerry as well as Tom), plot to of course turn Tom's good time into a day of pain, degradation and humiliation, often with hilarious results (the clam sandwich, the sand tea, the fake wooden lady, the spit-take, and of course the umbrella spring to mind) Viva Tom and Jerry!! This hilariously great cartoon can be found on disc one of the Spotlight collection DVD of "Tom & Jerry" My Grade: A
