The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.

Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

Sara (Izabella Miko) is the innocent freshman in Julliard in NYC studying to be Prima ballerina under the tough famed dancer Monique Delacroix (Jacqueline Bisset). Zoe (Aubrey Dollar) is her wacky Texan acting roommate. Katrina (Maria Brooks) is her assigned mentor. Miles (Columbus Short) is a student substitute teaching in her hip hop class. She falls for the aspiring composer as she's pulled between the world of hip hop and the traditional ballet world. The story is cheesy and very unoriginal. The main problem is that Miko is a relatively weak leading actress. The main saving grace for me is Dollar's friend character. She's funny cute especially when one of the first thing the movie does to her is to put her in an eye patch. Bisset is good as the grand dame of the piece. This is weak sequel with a poor actress at its center. However there are some minor good parts.

I think the moves are great. It's very very nice. I have never seen before, such great combination of hip hop and ballet. It's a nice love story. If you love to see people dance and dance to the music, this movie is made for you. It looks a bit like the movie step up, music, dance and love, but both are great movies. The musics composed are very creative and very touching, where the Miles compose music with Sarah's heart beat. That is genius. The songs are not only just hip hop but with classical music and many more. What are you waiting for, this is a movie that you must watch. If you love arts, music, dance, hip hop, ballet, this is the movie created for you. This movie teaches people that you must follow your dreams using your heart, no matter how hard it is, do what it is best for you, not for others. Although, sometimes life seems so hard to reach your goal but don't give up, do it to perfection. Once you have achieved it, you would be so happy that you would be thinking, "Luckly, I didn't give up my dream." It's all though hardwork and effort that i have put in just like Sarah.

This wasn't too bad a movie. It was basically about following your dreams and dealing with adversity along the way. Although I had basically seen the movie before with different titles (if you get my meaning), I thought the movie was good. Izabella Miko was good in the lead role as she performed the dance scenes well. Those scenes, by the way, were spectacular! (especially the ballet scenes and the part at a night club) While the themes of the movie were familiar, I found this movie to be refreshing and a good way to spend less than an hour and a half. I would recommend it.** 1/2 out of ****

I really enjoyed this movie. Most Hollywood dance movies are very poorly done, simply because they rarely cast anyone with the requisite training to make the dancing sequences enjoyable, believable, or even worth watching. Ballet is not something you can pick up in 6 months of intense training. Prior to watching the movie, I looked up the lead actress, and was delighted to find she actually has had classic dance training. That became very clear, watching her dance. The movie does have a few nice plot twists, as far as the relationships of the key characters. I also enjoyed the portrayal of Julliard.Excellent movie, if you enjoy dance, and, have danced, or been involved with the world of ballet, or modern dance.
