irishm This is one of those films I was almost afraid to watch again after all these years, even though I had very fond memories of watching it many times on HBO back in the very early 80's. It's rare that any film or TV show I loved as a kid turns out to be something I enjoy very much as an adult… well, this movie is an exception to that rule.My brother and I had this memorized back in the day, and we quoted it incessantly: "Oh my God, they killed Buzzy!"; "A mee-croscope can see things that are very small… like your brain."; "Mother, may I have a quarter?" Richard Benjamin and Richard Masur (as a greedy attorney and an oversized spoiled brat, respectively) share some of the silliest, most hilarious scenes in the film as they constantly seek new ways to demonstrate their contempt for one another. (Benjamin became a fine director, but dang, I miss seeing him in front of the camera!) And Roddy McDowall turns in an appealing comic performance as a prissy butler, a bit of a change of pace from most of the other films I've seen him in.I'm so glad this didn't leave me with that familiar, dreaded, "What was I THINKING?" feeling as I watched the end credits roll. Instead, I hit 'play' and watched it again. Not a big important movie, not a true classic perhaps, but a delightful way to spend two hours with an all-star cast (and a toilet named Montclair) that knows exactly what they're doing and manages to entertain non-stop from start to finish.

The people to be included are his hated sister and her obnoxious son, her neglected step daughter; parker's inept son-in-law and his three kids. Two other cousins who are brothers, the family servants, and an idiotic taxi driver, who helped him keep his fortune by making his partner miss a vital business meeting. With various allies picked up along the way, the wacky crew spreads out seeking to follow the riddles to find the objects in question.Starring Vincent Price, Robert Morley, Richard Benjamin, Cloris Leachman, Cleavon Little, Roddy McDowell and James Coco, among a cast of many more well known names (including a very young Arnold Schwartzenegger as the operator of a gym) The mayhem is soon at hand. Another star of the film is the city of San Diego, which is the background for much of the goings on. I can't say enough about how well this film holds up even after a score of viewings. Almost as much fun as taking part yourself.

delprestondelpreston Thank God for HBO playing this movie over and over in their infancy. My brother and I saw this hundreds of times, memorized most every line, and wore out the VHS tape we had of it. It's one that just grows on you. At first, yes, it's admittedly horrendous. Though throw that stuff aside and it comes out as a great comedy with slap-stick characters in goofball situations. Come on Meat Loaf as Scum and Governator as the gym instructor. But Stuart Selsome, what typifies the 70s better than his character.Great for quotable one liners, and very few people that actually know of or remember this movie. Makes for great coversation.

alexshelli2 I don't know what the rest of you think, but if you grew up in the 70's and early eighties you'll love this movie!!! Don't listen to the idiots who don't know COMEDY!!! IT IS FUNNY!!! ALL OF IT!!! Especially when James CoCo has to put on the panty hose over his head as a disguise when they are robbing the convenient store!!! HILARIOUS!!! There are so many funny parts in this movie I can't type all night to mention! BUY IT! You'll love it. IT IS JUST FOR ENTERTAINMENT!! This isn't Gladiator!!! It is supposed to be silly, it's a comedy, STUPID!!!:-)
